What does the new 5 years of eligibility rule mean for the Ivy League? Can they decline this - similar to how they decline to allow redshirts? Or will they be required to allow for this by the NCAA?

I'm sure the Ivies will opt out.  They simply do not care about athletics.  They do not offer any addiitonal support or advantages (other than admissions) to any athlete that they do not offer to the average non-athletic student.  The Ivies do not participate in the same NIL benefits that the larger, athletic-centered schools do.

The Ivies make sure that all students get out in 4 years with their degree with the expection if a student withdraws or takes leave.

In one of his fantasies, didn't George graduate Cornell with a degree  in Marine Biology? Helped him save a beached whale as I recall.

I do remember the Marine Biology thing.  Not sure about the university.

Is this a new rule? Or is it just being discussed at this point? I thought it was the latter.

FWIW CP says from talking to coaches, it sounds imminent, but it is definitely not official at this point.

I saw something of this the other day from Bielema (Illinois current HFC).

I think if there is some sort of possibility that it could be a reality within the next few seasons, then the guys who can go now, should.  Let the best man wrestle.

It could end up being like what Cardenas had to do this last season.  They do their four, then transfer out for their last one.

What would stop them from doing five, if they play the system?  Only wrestle the last semester their Junior and Senior seasons, so they're still 'only' there for eight semesters?  How is the rule actually written?
