Well, actually less than 50% of the people…actually beyond that less than half of the 61% turnout….voted for the current president, in a vote that was nothing but a lack of good options… so I don’t think that covers “the American people”.  It covers a portion of the American people, and I don’t believe whether or not it was “worth dwelling on”.  But to that point, in his campaign he lied about what should be done with those who violently attacked law enforcement officers, stating multiple times the violent attackers of law enforcement should not and would not be pardoned…..only to do just that on day one. Which is what was discussed in the video.  That’s the silly part of the statement.

The sad part of the statement is that so many have been so brainwashed into blind sheep that they can say a group of people viciously attacking law enforcement because they didn’t get their way in an election is “not a thing worth dwelling on”.  Actually it’s more than sad, it’s f***ing pathetic.

It’s not just democrats still talking about it.  Independents are still talking about it.  Non MAGA conservatives are still talking about it. Even some maga conservatives are not happy they were pardoned.  As should be.  It was one of the most embarrassing dark stains on this country. But the chin wipers have gotten to be okay with law enforcement viciously being attacked because they didn’t get their way in an election, so they are not “dwelling” on it.

Pathetic.

Is it your opinion that Good minded democrats just didn’t vote for the guy running against literal Hitler?   Large volumes of them?  I mean that’s what he was called repeatedly.   He is going to end literal democracy and all elections buddy.   Didn’t you see the campaign?

It might be pathetic in your opinion, but more people voted for Trump than voted for Kamala.   In an election, that is what counts, voter turnout.   More people voted that this was not a thing  to get all riled up about.   Else their vote would have gone to Harris.

It was apparent that there was a way different standard placed on the jan 6 crowd than any other riot that caused way more damage.   You can say it was the Capitol and I wish it hadn't happened.   Those that destroyed property or assaulted cops should  not have been pardoned.   But for the rest, the punishment did not fit the crime and I have no problem with them being pardoned.

When cities allow the burning down of their cities and do not go after the perps like they did with Jan 6, it is easy to see that this was treated way differently than the others and I think that is why it is not considered as big a deal on the right as it is on the left, just like burning of cities is a bigger deal to the right than to the left.

Lawlessness is rampant.   It all needs to be treated equally.   If so, I don't think we would have seen a Jan 6, and I don't think cities would continue to have the crime problems they currently have.   It is all related to a lack of enforcement of the law.   Some people just open their windows and smell the freedom of burning tires and cars and are happy about it.   That is just as wrong as Jan 6 in my opinion.   Jan 6 was not a coup, nor was it an attempted coup.   It was a demonstration that got out of control.   Like I said, those that assaulted cops or bldg need to be jailed and not pardoned.   It was the  most peaceful coup attempt in the history of world coups.  Where were the grenade launchers, the automatic rifles, the semi automatic rifles, the handguns, the knives, etc etc.   It was no coup attempt.   It was angry people feeling that they had been cheated.

With a record number of votes for Biden and a record number of votes in total, something did seem out of place.

2012   65.9 million votes for Obama    60.9 votes for Romney       126.8 million total votes

2016   65.8 million votes for Hillary      63 million for Trump (but he won the electoral college which is what is important)

128.8 million votes total

2020  81.3 million votes for Biden        74.2 million for Trump      155.5 million total votes

2024   75.0 million votes for Kamala     77.3 million for Trump     152.3 million total votes

There is a step jump to Biden and then a step down to Kamala.   Where did all those votes come from?   Trump did way better in 2020 than he did in 2016 yet still lost tremendously.   That was at the center of the vote issue that was the reason for the Jan 6 demonstration.   Trump got more votes than any candidate ever in 2020, except  Biden jumped the shark.

The damage to the Capitol bldg pales in comparison to the damage from the George Floyd riots that went on all summer long with nary an arrest made on any perp.   A stunning result that I'm sure allowed the Jan 6 folks to not think too much of what they were doing.   What they did was wrong granted.   Those that assaulted should still be put away granted.

Sorry but the facts just don’t agree with your assertion, hence the brainwashed blind sheep comment.  Over 1,000 people were convicted in connection with the summer 2020 riots. But it makes for a good feel good what about when you want to try to brush off a different event.

But you know what was handled much differently with those scum from 2020 than with the Jan 6 scum……they didn’t get a blanket pardon. The minions got their pardon on day one.

More people turned out for the 2020 election than any other election, and it was a close race.  So someone not a blind sheep would be able to see the logic that both candidates got more votes than previous candidates.

Keep saying whatever will make you feel better about having the opinion that law enforcement protecting our.nations capital getting viciously attacked and beaten because a group of people didn’t get their way is “not a thing to dwell on”.  I’ve said all I’m gonna say.  Except to repeat that it’s f***ing pathetic.

I’ve read the insurrection handbook three times now.  I still can’t find the chapter where it says to stop right in the middle of taking over a government, put your feet up on a desk and snap pictures.

Some of the responses here demonstrate exactly the point I was making on the post. Regardless of how passionate folks might be about this issue, it’s not an election winning topic.

You wonder if Hakeem Jeffries is running out of positives for his party.

This brings out a very good point.  Governing has become more about spinning narratives to win elections so they can rake in their money, than doing the right thing.  Goes for both sides. That’s not something we should be okay with.

Cops viciously attacked, whether it be during the summer of 2020 or at the Capitol, should not be an “election issue”.   One shouldn’t be a whatabout for the other.  It should simply be a right or wrong…emphasis on wring…issue and should be “dwelled on” that way. But ‘we the people’ take the chicken feed given by the politicians and cluck away…..and you get today’s political climate.

Yes.  As I said when it comes to crime. In a country with personal liberty, people are free to have the moral character that will have them brush off cops being beaten while protecting our capital as nothing to dwell on.  We are all not the same.

Trump is still staying this in 2025:

"I won the 2020 Election"

"I am 6'3" 215 lbs"

"I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled. It will be done within 24 hours.”
