Current roster has Greg D, Ethan Fernandez, and Josh Saunders listed as "Graduate Student."

I assume that to be a graduate student, one has to have graduated.  Doesn't the Ivy League prohibit grad students from competing?

Maybe the terminology used by Cornell on their own website is different than the terminology used in regulatory guidelines actually imposed by the Ivy League (post 4th year vs actually having graduated).  I thought all of these guys did the thing where they unenrolled for a semester here and there to be eligible.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Greg D , Brett ungar , Vince cornella and Ethan Fernandez ( Cornell starting 125-149) all have to sit out first semester this year bc they are grad students … also Shapiro will be on a pitch count all year to preserve his body for march and Mikey Dellagatta will miss the year with injury

Doesn't address the question of how this gets around the Ivy League restriction of grad students not being able to compete.

Ungar is listed as a senior and is on the roster (for now).  Cornella is not on the roster; Greg D and Ungar and Fernandez are on the roster as well.

How is Saunders?

I haven’t kept up on his career but I remember sitting next to his dad at a summer camp, seemed like a good guy.

I don’t know how they work it , I was just relaying some information that Cornell put out over social media today

Last year was the first time cracking the lineup as a junior and went 18-9 and was a NQ went 1-2 at ncaas , he’ll be the starting 1st semester at 141 but will most likely lose the spot second semester when cornella returns

Saunders has been around seemingly forever so I'm quite surprised he still has eligibility - especially with Cornell's rules.

Can anyone imagine in college football Ohio State shows up to play the season and your starting qb, wr, rb, and ctr are not there. Nobody ask questions? No journalist calls the coach? Ad? Spokesman? In our sport it seems there may be unwritten rules about asking questions our niche following would like to know. If the coach doesn't want to answer, let him say so, in public. Everyone has heard the drama with PSU. Why have the wrestling media not called Sanderson/PSU and reported the answer? If the the answer is no comment, so be it. At least ask the questions.

Except that Coach Grey has answered all the questions (look for the Cornell article on Flo) about why these guys are sitting out.  Ivy League prohibits grad students from competing, requires enrolled students to make progress towards graduation, and counts enrollment towards eligibility limits.  A number of presumed starters (Diakomihalis, Saunders, Ungar, maybe Cornella) have to not be enrolled this semester to meet these requirements, which is in keeping with prior actions going back at least to Dylan Palacio.  Shapiro is limiting his competitions to protect his health (not clear, and not important if he is enrolled or not).

I would speculate that Cornella is sitting out this semester, and will sit out first semester in 2026 as well, in order to have two more competitive seasons available:  second semester 2026 and second semester 2027.
