My son lives in DC and there is so little crime he warned us not to ride the subway, funny things happen there.

mspart

Back when I had reasons to go to DC rode the subway all the time, it was the only way to get around.

It's different for different people. For somebody that is able-bodied and driven to the same level as me, I'd say a good 50 to 55 hrs per week. As long as I also have time to work out.

Are you actually a geologist?

Who the hell works 90 hours per week? I can tell you that I work harder than 90% of the general population and harder than 99.9% of wingers.

I worked 70-90 most weeks for years.  Wasn't physical but it's still tiresome.  I can barely work 40 anymore.  It's unsustainable and gains you nothing. Everything in your life gets neglected and you can't do anything for yourself.  I can squeeze out a 50 hrs week but I try to keep that to a minimum.

There are 168 hours in a week.  Most people work five days a week which leaves 120 hours in five days.  Let’s say we split the difference on a a 70-90 hour work week and call it 80 hours per work week.  That leaves 88 hours in the week and 40 hours in a five day work week. You’re supposed to get 8 hours of sleep per night but let’s say because you work so much you only get six per night.  That’s takes 42 hours out of your week leaving you 46 hours and it takes 30 hours out of your five day work week leaving you 16 hours in the five days.  That leaves you roughly 6.6 hours per day for the week and 3.2 hours per day in the five day work week to live life.  That’s driving wherever you go, (traveling to and from work), all your shopping, church, kids events, errands, watching tv, working out, social media, going to the doctor, oil changes, visiting family and friends, eating out, school conferences, shoveling snow/mowing, paying bills, napping/dozing off because you work so much and every other thing that goes on in life.

I call bullshit on people regularly working 70, 80, 90 hours per week.  You feel like you did but you didn’t.

PS - I have a wonderful wife that took care of most of the everyday life stuff while I was working/gone so I know you need support to make life work.  It was absolutely wonderful that she could and much needed.  I averaged around 50 hours per week.

14hr x 6dy = 84 add another 6 on Sunday if you want.

You still have 10hr off 8hr sleep and you sleep well.

Not for long they don’t.

6am to 8 pm.   Hourly they won’t pay it due to OT.  Salary doesn’t pay enough per hour for anyone to do it.  Seasonal jobs might work those hours but that’s with a season off.

If you own your business overtime isn't a factor.  Find a job/career you love and you'll never have to "work."

As young and crazy and illogical as RV is, I honestly hope someday he finds and understands perspective on life better.  Working such long hours and trying to better yourself is very admirable especially when you are young, but to have the attitude that you should maintain that for your whole life is well, not living life... as life isn't about a job and as I have gotten older, I am thankful for what the long hours have allowed me to do for me and my family; however, it is definitely NOT what defines me...my relationships with my family and friends and the time spent together is 1000 times more important than a job ever was or will be.  As I get closer to retirement (so jealous of you @JimmySpeaks 🙂), I realize it even more as I hear about more and more people who worked their whole life and never got to enjoy the rewards of all that hard work (death, disability, mental health issues, etc.).  I hopefully will not be that person.  🙏

I was in IT as an individual contributor for 15 years (80% salary 20% potential bonus for some if you get promoted to a high enough level) and a sales engineer for 13 years (80% ish base salary 20% commission).      There is rarely:never overtime in either world…. As far as my experience goes.

I can tell you in both worlds it’s not uncommon to have people work 60+ hours.  At least the high achievers do routinely.

I can also say, especially as an individual contributor (not sales) plenty of people work for 40 (or less ish) hours routinely.    Especially if they are not extremely high achievers.

your somewhat correct.  You can’t work that way forever but almost everyone I know does it pretty routinely.

Yes, by training. Career has evolved so not down in nitty gritty anymore but still a fair amount.

Ot depends. My 2nd job is mostly outside and I'm burning calories. Complements main job really well. I can do this 20 hours in addition to main job no problem. Never burns me out, been doing that for years. Love it. 3rd job is a lot like my main job. Behind a computer, science, etc. That's a lot tougher for me. Even 10 hours in a week is a bit of a grind. I may end that one soon, but it's also interesting and 100% remote so who knows.

Good luck my friend. You deserve it and won’t regret it. Enjoy life how and when you want not when someone else tells you that you can.

I worked at a company where OT was variable so it didn’t pay to work longer unless you sold more during the OT hours.   I also regularly reviewed any people that were averaging over 50 hours per week to see if it was the system or the person causing it.  We found that productivity after 50 hours dropped significantly and we were better off course correcting and getting them to a manageable schedule.  Allowing them to better balance their lives was the right thing to do.

I worked at a company for 28 years in a number of different positions and locations.  Every job has its good and bad even if you love it (which I did)  That’s why they call it a job.

Important to note, for the sake of accuracy and those who don't read the story but only the read and run with the headline and social media tidbits, but the only part that changed was the fine.   The courts upheld that he/they committed 'brazen fraud', as were the sanctions against Trump, his son, and Weisellberg.   The judgement of fraud was not thrown out, but rather the ruling was that the amount of fine was excessive.

I know, I know, I'm suffering from some huge case of TDS.....but the facts remain the facts regardless.

So the fine is $0?

Yup. Some dumb wingers only read what they want to believe and filter out the rest.
