Something that Ds seem unable to understand is that we the people pay all the taxes.   Put a tax on a business, the people that by that product pay that tax.    It is not just that the people pay for tariffs, it is that they pay for all taxes.   So when a D says he wants some business to pay their fair share, that is a tax increase on those that by that product.   Period.

Are you saying prices in 2025 rose a little bit after they rose by a huge amount the preceding 4 years?  Great chart to show the truth of the situation.   Notice how the charts pretty much stabilize toward the end.    Indictment of Trump for sure.   If he is to blame for stabilizing prices, who is to blame for having them rise so much?

I remember the good old days when Biden wasn’t any where near responsible for the crazy rising costs.   Good times.    We were being big bad meanies to him if I remember correctly.

It's a highly regressive tax though. Paid mostly by poor people.

Rich man and poor man walk into a bar.  They both buy a drink.   Bar tender says that will be $3 each for the drink and $1 extra for taxes.    Bar tender checks out the shoes of both men and discovers one man is wearing Gucci shoes and the other man is wearing @red vikingshoes.  And says.  Wait a minute here Sonny boy.   You’re a poor poor geologist.  You have to pay the taxes for both drinks !

Rich man smiles and says it’s good to be the king and kicks @red viking in the chin and spills his drink.

he then walks off happily ever after.

RV's a good-sized bloke. Rich man pulled his hammy trying to kick up to RV's chin.

RV was laughing so hard, he spilled his drink.

Rich man walks off with a limp, so disgruntled with his performance that he doesn't see the bus...

... as he walked right into his very own happily ever after. Gucci's and all.

Honestly the price of things just keeps going up. I was at Trader Joe's the other day and something I get that's around $5 is now $7.50 2 months later.

I went on a road trip last weekend and fuel was under $3 for the first time in years.

Gas has been weird around here. Multiple days of 20, 30, as high as 40 cent hikes and drops overnight.  One day it will be 3.15, the next day 2.85, 3.10 a couple days later, 2.93 the next day.   Just weird.

My steaks are up, eggs are down.  Hard to find ribeyes under 15.99lb lately.  Can get free range eggs for 2.60 at Aldi.   Coffee is up as well.   Just a weird time right now in pricing.

steak prices are currently high in the U.S., reaching record levels. Several factors contribute to this, primarily related to a shrinking cattle herd, increased feed costs due to drought, and strong consumer demand.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Shrinking Cattle Herd:

The national beef cow herd is at its lowest point in decades, with fewer cattle available for slaughter. This reduction is due to a combination of factors, including ranchers selling off breeding stock during previous droughts.

Increased Feed Costs:

Drought conditions across major cattle-producing regions have led to higher costs for ranchers to feed their cattle, as they rely on more expensive feed instead of grazing.

Strong Demand:

Despite the higher prices, consumer demand for beef, particularly ground beef, remains strong, further contributing to price increases

Saw today's newspaper. The frontpage headline read "A Viking and a snowplow roll into a bar ..."

Now that's a grabber. Had to buy one and see what that was all aboot.

I read it. Sounds like all the two did was talk about the Vikings and the Packers. Oh and how to be your best version of woke.

Still over $3 in most places here unless you have a Costco or Sam's Club membership. Then it's like 2.79 or something.
