Takedown, 5-2 Hamiti.  Another TD, 7-2.  I think an exposure, 9-2.

Takedown Switzerland, 9-4. And that’s how it ends.  Switzerland guy did have a Russian-sounding name.

Crazy ending in Ruiz match against Ukraine.  He was up 5-4 with less than 10 seconds to go, Ukraine was in on a shot then they have a weird exchange that’s first scored as 2 Ukraine putting Ukraine up 6-5.  US challenges and they score it 2-2 so Ruiz wins 7-6.

I am still extremely high on Meyer 3,5 is definitely a letdown, which is crazy all things considered. If he can be healthy and get his mind in a good spot though his talent is undeniable. If Hamiti can build into a decent sized 86 I think he is a threat as well the way he moves is going to give the bigger guys a lot of issues.

Eh... maybe Wrestling less could help, but there's more concussions in Freestyle. I'm not sure what Shapiro's future looks like. He could definitely grow into a solid 163 or 74KG, but... I still like Duke with 3 years of PSU Wrestling and time to grow. He's so damn slick.

One sleeper at 86KG is Sinclair. 3 more years of building his body up, he could be a great fit there.

I like Hamiti a lot. I think he's a bit slicker than Mesenbrink, but life gets in the way for a lot of these guys.

I'll also add, I don't know if Ross can do it in 3 years, but I think in 7 years, he is going to be a REAL threat. The kids are well on their way.

Brayton Lee wins 4-2 over guy from Ukraine.  Where is he training?  Singlet says Knights

He was just hired as an assistant coach w/ Bellarmine so that would be where Knights comes from

Well, not sure if it was first match jitters, or what - but Hamiti lost 10-0 to the same guy that Simon Ruiz beat 7-6.

That said, Mykhailov is a former Worlds Bronze medalist at 79 KG and was very competitive with medalists at 86 KG while trying to qualify at 86 KG - so perhaps that isn't such a bad loss (and maybe the Ruiz loss was bad for Mykhailov).  Especially since Mykhailov beat Zahid Valencia 8-6 at the 2023 Moustafa ranking series event.

I still want to see Hamiti at 86 KG and on the DT regimen for growth in to 86 KG.  He has the frame for it.

I also want to see Shapiro at 74 KG because he just looks too big for 65 KG at this point.  Duke could add a little more and fill out to 74 KG and immediately impact our ladder - especially being in the same room as Monster Mitch, Haines, etc.

I think Ross, with some size, could be terrifying... if he can beat Mirasola.  I think a lot of folks are sleeping on Hopke.  I think he's going to be one of our main contenders at 125 KG for 2028. He has kind of been on the back-burner since he committed and has taken some losses, but he is still in what is probably the best HWT room in the country (still).

was a bit shocked to see Dreshaun tech Hopke. Dreshauns ceiling seems insane however I am not sure he is completely all in on wrestling yet, and his shoulder injury history concerns me a bit.

I was shocked by it, too.  With Hopke's lack of mat-time I want to chock it up to health reasons.  I am not in the know, though.

Ruiz has racked up some solid accolades this summer. A gold here from him certainly isn’t a shocker

Hamiti beat him at WTT, though, via 5-3 Decision.  I wouldn't expect that drastically different a result a couple months later.
