Left Lane Capital is behind RAF. Do some research. They have been working on niche sports leagues lately, such as the Magnus Carlson chess league and the Shaun White snow board league. Here is a prompt I have to grok about the companies advantages. People should get excited about this.

I screwed up the last link if anyone at all is interested in Left Lane Capital

Lance palmer ?

We need Metcalf out there

No one has a better background story to draw fans then Metcalf

Let's get terry brands wrestling other coaches - this is what draws fans in

I think ultimately you will need tournaments. I think wrestling should copy the tennis format with major and lesser tournaments and having the rankings matter in a way that forces guys to compete. Like only having the top 4 qualify for the next major then the others have to earn their place by entering smaller tournaments.

The other rule change would be keep the guts and laces the same except only the first turn is worth 2 and each subsequent turn worth 1. I think guys would still be incentivized enough to keep par terre exciting but without so many early techs.

Not following closely but what is up with the ‘old-timers’ who have been out of the sport for quite a while?  I have little to no interest in these matches.

It could be interesting but I doubt it. IF (big if) they are in shape enough, it would be cool to see those guys compete again. I picked Darrion Caldwell as the best 149 of the last 25 years, but I just don’t see how he can compete with the current world team member. I mean if he was close to that level, why not make a run at the world team?

I think the concept is good. Nostalgia for wrestling fans and guys that have garnered an MMA fanbase. It's a good way to get more eyes until the league is a bit more established. I also think the timing of the first event probably makes it a little harder to get any international guys or even most of our world teamers because they all probably leave for camp shortly after.

I think its what everyone wants if they were still dynamic. The product would not be good. i tuned into the old timer at the open, not a good watching patty cake in slow motion.

I think it is a good idea if matches are competitive. Otherwise, they would just be hosting matches that only freestyle nerds care about. The average wrestling fan (college only) and casual MMA fans won't care as much about the current freestyle matchups (which they can see at worlds/WTT anyway)

Do casual MMA fans care about Lance Palmer though?

I don’t mind the old-timers, but I don’t understand why they’d match them up with guys that are current world medalist contenders.

when I was deeply invested in MMA there was a pretty large contigent that wanted Lance in the UFC around the time he won the million-dollar tournament in the PFL. I think there will be people that tune in to watch him. Frankie edgar, Clay guida, Jon Jones, Aljo, Nickal, Usman, Covington, Gaethje, Pico are probably the premier names you are looking for. Obviously the dagestan contingent but those guys wont even do submission grappling stuff so I am not sure how feasible that is.

Pico…now that would be interesting.  Other than Nickal, the rest I don’t think would stand a chance against a legit wrestler.

I agree, Submission underground use to caveat matches between MMA and BJJ guys not allowing them to use holds below the waste. I am wondering if there is any way something of that nature could be implemented to make the matches more even. Perhaps no turns or just once turn from a takedown.

Slightly surprising to see Woods, Gomez, and Blades doing this just 2-3 weeks before Worlds. How hard will they go?

I thought what we were told was there would be minimal changes UWW freestyle rules?

oh perhaps not then. That was only if you were bringing in one of those guys that almost exclusively wrestled folk and even then is far removed from that. I think its a hard sell that if Justin Gaethje was wrestling Zain that he would not get turned 4 times in 25 seconds even with a few months of prep time.
