Our NY dream would be for a big wrestling donor to revive a SUNY school like UAlbany or Stonybrook and bring in a major talent like Dake-----it is just a dream of course, but a well funded public D1 school in Albany or Long Island would do very well. It is too bad SUNY never made a true flagship campus as it is the only big population state not to do so. Honestly there is no reason Buffalo, Binghamton, Albany or Stony Brook could not have become a Michigan or Penn State

Gene put a life time into Syracuse and they never looked back. Bastards! And Im an alumni who was in the Quonset hut!

I had to do a double take to make sure Jimmy wasn’t the one that started this thread (but of course he contributed).

I guess OP didn’t technically rule out Dake coaching and competing at the same time, but there’s zero chance he retires from competing after his first tournament at 86 and a close loss to Zahid

* pseudoscience

I’d hold off on judging.

Gravity and the heliocentric solar system were pseudoscience, eggs used to cause heart attacks and a balanced diet had 10-14 servings of grain a day.

If you think Dake's a huge complainer on the mat now, just wait until he's in a corner with bricks to throw

Yup did he even officially coach more than 1 year at Cornell?  The only thing I remember about his coaching stint is him being interviewed and calling a 50/50 call “the worst call of all-time”

They were never pseudo-science.  Pseudo-science consists of claims without any supporting evidence, like a lot of stuff that Dake has espoused (earthing, anyone?).

Pseudoscience.

His "solar callus" thing is absolutely absurd... this is coming from someone who has had four skin cancer surgeries.

The "fictional patterns" resistance training is garbage and cult-like.  He started doing functional patterns because he was getting injured too much... suffered the worst injury of his career while on it.

I'm not going into the "different races should eat completely different diets" mumbo jumbo.

A lot of this stuff is ineffective and even dangerous.

It's a good thing for Kyle that wrestling doesn't require a particularly high IQ 😄

I could see Dake alienating himself quickly with administration. He would have a Ken Chertow type coaching career.

I don't think so. If Dake did want to coach in college (I don't think he will) he would not crash the school's server with the weekly camp email blast. Dake is so much better with social media.

Not fair:  there's no evidence Dake is not intelligent, and plenty to indicate he is intelligent.  What he appears to lack is a good sense of critical thinking when it comes to science, especially when the evidence goes counter to his pre-conceptions and world view.

Let’s get both these guys on staff asap. I’ll call Wildhack and get this thing rolling!

That's not a glowing endorsement of his intelligence.
