How did Bassett get the #3 seed.  He didn't even win the U20s spot and doesn't have many results on the Senior level.

It looks like they also didn't give much credence to results of 61KG guys moving up (Gross, Baze).

How is Hardy a #2 seed?  Does he have any results in freestyle at the Senior level?

Bassett seemed to have gotten seeded because he beat valencia a bunch of times last year. I have no idea how they decided to put Hardy at #2 other than he has a u23 bronze 2 years ago.

believe we will have Beau on Bo crime round 1 and Mendez gets the award of likely wrestling Blaze in his first match. My picks are Blaze and Bartlett win those.

Zillmer making 97kg is really interesting.

He was under 99kg at the Open a couple weeks ago. I imagine he has only been wrestling at heavyweight because of Snyder

That's a rough draw for Mendez. This bracket is freaking stacked.

What day does wrestling start?

It means Snyder can't wrestle or train till he's off that list.

Even if he isn't 'allowed' to train, saying he won't is a different animal altogether.

That said, my question was pertaining to 97 KG for WTT.

Does this mean Top 2 don't wrestle and wrestle off at the Best of 3?  Doed Aiello is now sitting in the Best of 3 Finals?

Only reason Yianni is "hot/cold" is because of the numerous injuries and surgical recoveries he's endured that doesn't get mentioned the way others injuries are... When Yianni is healthy I believe he's one of the best in the world around 65/70 and we know that because he's beaten world champions and has a world silver. I have full confidence in Yianni if he's healthy.

Yes, Yianni has had injuries, but they are talked about often.  Yianni's recent concussion and college ACL are mentioned most times he is talked about.  He's also hot/cold bc like his buddy Vito, he has been someone who took on ridiculous weight cuts.  Also, he gets involved in a lot of unnecessary scrambles, where his opponents are as likely to score as he is. (and also lead to injuries)

I personally like him, and think he is great, but the problems run deeper than just one thing.

Seems like a horrendous matchup for Bassett unless he elects to just hand fight and not shoot which I doubt happens.

Who other than Dake/Burroughs/Snyder- would you consider not hot or cold on the Senior Circuit the last 5 years?

The original Yianni post claiming he was hot/cold was not mine.

Yeah but you seemed to be taking the same stance that there are all these problems aside from having something like 9 surgeries in the past 7-8 years... weight cuts are difficult on everyone but I wouldn't pin any of Yianni's losses on a weight cut so again, I'm just curious other than injuries and weight cut issues that haven't seemed to be an issue what all these problems are that you mention? I genuinely don't know what you're referring too so just seeking to understand what else the issue has been that has only netted him 4 national titles US Open titles and a world silver medal at 65kg that hadn't been done in over a decade?

The OTT performance are often blamed on the weight cut.  There are supposedly "horror stories" about Yianni's condition during this cut.  So there's that.  Are you just disregarding his OTT weight cut, which made him move up a weight, and have been credited with his poor performance?  His WTT concussion may have also been due to a weight cut.

His overreliance on scrambles puts him in bad positions that often involve some interesting scoring AND injury.  Look at his Zain matches as well as World finals.  Probably Lee matches and some other international losses, too.

Again, I didn't start the hot/cold talk... just saying that he has had issues other than injury.  Both the weight cut and the unnecessary scrambles have been frequently been talked about in wrestling media and on this forum.

i don't think he is scrambling as often as he used to. I also think he went through a phase where he was trying the "dive, get extended but just get so good at finishing that it doesn't matter" thing, and backed off that when he figured out that you have to be 1/1000 people to have your shoulders put up with it.

What a dumb ruling based on a regressive, moralistic law in a conservative state.   Snyder harmed no one nor intended to.  It's moral paternalism at work.  What he did will affect his family relations, but that is solely between them.  It's also selective enforcement of a law that tries to regulate a practice that has occurred since the beginning of time and will invariably  continue.  The only way he should be in trouble if it was advertised as being with a minor.

It was a waste of police resource and public money.  It looked like there were about 8 cops there.

I agree that the most recent tournament was evidence of smarter wrestling.

Everyone thought that Bassett was going to give Kolodzik a match and Kolodzik destroyed him.

That was last year, but styles make matches.  Bartlett is a better version of Kolodzik with a focus on counter-wrestling.

I think the style favors Barlett heavily.

Barlett wins, but I think the score will be closer than the actual match, given that Barlett's not exactly an offensive juggernaut.

Yeah it might be a 3-1 blowout or a 4-0 nail biter, we'd have to watch obviously. Not predicting a tech.
