It's short term anyway. I'm paying off real estate in the fall so just playing with some extra money on the side, in cash at the moment. I still see a nice dip coming between now and then. Most of assets are still locked up in retirement-related accounts.

So the "tank" became the "plunge" became the "dip" and not even a bad dip but a "nice dip."  🤔

I would hope it’s only short term.  Not sure why you’re begging for the market to burn when you’ve got most of your assets locked up in retirement related accounts??  Seems kind of stupid to let your TDS cause you to want to doom yourself financially but have at it.  My properties have been paid off since 2014. I’ve been paying myself a vey comfortable retirement salary for over five years now and have far more money than when I started.  Even when Biden was President I never once wished for the market to burn.

Nice means significant, as in great buying opportunity.

I did admit that it wasn't guaranteed because there was a great chance that he'd cave, and he did.

Trump caved on tariffs. That's why the stock market went back up. He caved even more quickly than I thought he would.

They’re still negotiating so none has caved. Good try though.

I heard he got into a shoving match with the Treasury Secretary Bessent.

Unbelievable....these are the childish and incompetent clowns running our country.

Musk is right on this one. This bill is horrible and the only cuts they made were to the stuff that's already piddly. All show and no substance.

Yet the dims are squealing about the minimal cuts that are in it.

I've said many times that I'm in favor of cuts, but lets cut programs that are larger so they actually amount to something. IF you want to make cuts and you want them to be significant, you MUST go after military, social security and medicare.

You are a complete idiot if you think you are going to even make a dent in the budget by going after NPR, USAID, Planned Parenthood and EPA. Piddly stuff.

That's 100% bs. Most are with me on gutting the military, one of our largest categories of spending and the most bloated and fat

Regrets about what??  I have no problem with him expressing his opinion on the spending bill...I actually agree with him...but not sure how you made the jump to him regretting something??

Only to reassign the money to their pet programs, to fund their slush funds and every communist government in the world, not to cut spending.

That's another winger lie. They're a dime a dozen.

I'm actually probably the ONLY person (or one of them) that on this forum actually in favor of also cutting social security (the Uber rich don't need any of it) and medicare, albeit modestly (not as much as the military, where I'd gut it like the fat pig that it is). Im in favor of cutting the OVERALL budget but also raising taxes on everybody to cut into the deficit and keep interest rates lower. I'm not dumb enough though like most wingers to think that cutting USAID, EPA, Dept of Education and Planned Parenthood is going to make any sort of dent in the budget.

I would NOT cut Medicaid or assistance to poor families. The young families are the people we need to prioritize for assistance. This is our future. If I have to triage my money and pick between saving the life of a kid and extending the life of somebody in their 80s, I'm going to pick the kid almost every time (depending upon actual circumstances though).

Those are programs that were structured to be separate from other federal spending.  Programs funded by separate deductions from working peoples income.  It’s fine with me if immigrants and other people that were capable but didn’t contribute were removed from the rolls, but the contributors are barely getting their due.

What a perfectly communist sentiment.

That's another blatant winger lie. SS is paying out more than it's taking in, because people are living longer than they used to. Call it separate or combine it, that's a matter of semantics. Fact of the matter is that both programs run deficits so changes are needed. You can cut benefits, raise contributions or just go farther into debt. The wingers just want to put it on the national credit card. No spine whatsoever.

That’s (if true) a result of congress raiding the fund and legislating increased access to people who didn’t contribute.

tell me more about this "raiding" and who is getting it that isn't contributing?

Whether raided or not, it doesn't change the fact that it's running a deficit. How do you propose to fix that? Let's cut the complaining crap and actually address the issue.
