Oh, and one product. Semiconductors. That has NOTHING to do with the fact that Elon is spending tens of billions on them though!

But they said Canada Charges 32% tariffs or whatever that board said, so it must be true(you know you're screwed whenever they bring out the board).

Looks like the worlds largest economy has an opportunity to make some money off of China

Is that how you're seeing things play out?

LOL...just say you don't understand what's going on Jimmy. That's...it's fine. You liked the Red Hat and now you're in over your head.

Enjoy that "the worlds largest economy" title. The US GDP is now contracting and China's will be growing even more as the rest of the world turns to them.

And you can still clap at the wrists with that oversized forhead and tongue sticking out talking about how great John Cena and Donald Trump are.

That's interesting. I assumed we couldn't trade anything with Russia just like Iran because they are on the sanctions list. Until I read the article I didn't know we could make exceptions. I know my company can't.

I could be wrong but somewhere I heard there’s a war going on.  I wonder if during the negotiations to implement a cease fire and hopefully an end to the war there have been any discussions about tariffs?  Oh wait I don’t wonder.  🤦‍♂️

Hmmm....who is on the other side of that war?  Were they tariffed?

What were our trade numbers prior to Russia invasion of Ukraine?

Now that I have been able to up your standing on the message boards, I was wondering if I can expect my residual check in the mail soon. lol (you know our NIL agreement)

Hmmmmmm it’s being used as leverage right now.  He’s already said the tariffs will come if they don’t comply

So to be clear, only one side of this war was tariffed, and it wasn't the side who initiated the war?

I would ask for full disclosure and transparency.  The people deserve to know

Unfortunately agreed to a non-disclosure agreement. But I can tell you there were bigger offers.

Per Newsweek there is a lot going on in Congress as regards sanctions, secondary sanctions etc.

 https://www.newsweek.com/white-house-explains-why-russia-not-included-trumps-new-tariffs-2054548

Full list in this article

https://www.newsweek.com/trump-reciprocal-tariff-chart-2054514

South Africa is on the list.  Some heavily sanctioned countries are excluded (Cuba, North Korea, Russia).  Iran is included.

It will be interesting how this list shakes out over time.  I try to avoid the non wrestling forum category but tariff reciprocity has pros and cons, upsides and downsides, economic and political ramifications of interest.

This is where we all get anxious, depressed, and dumb while solving problems that are not ours to solve.

Let's explore the concept of dumb as it relates to tariffs.

I just saw the formula Trump used to decide how each country's tariff was decided.

It his nothing to do with being reciprocal, in spite of the marketing tag line. It charges tariffs based on the size of the trade deficit with the US - not on whether there are any tariffs on us.

It is the most simplistic calculation possible. Call it the artifice of the deal. Take the trade deficit, divide it by how much we import from that country, then divide by 2. That is the percentage tariff on that country.

Why is that dumb, you may reasonably ask? Because many trade deficits are not caused by tariffs or protectionist policies. Many trade deficits are structural. Another country pays its labor less than we pay ours causing goods from that country to cost less. All we are doing then is importing inflation. So now we make our own t-shirts and sneakers? Who wants those jobs? Perhaps we can bring back some immigrants we just deported to handle the work.

If Trump really wanted this to work, without blowing up our economy, he would have spent time to actually attack the problem - protectionist policies and tariffs. Instead, he is too lazy to do the hard work and will throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Once again - The Dumbest Trade War Ever.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

Trump is gathering data.  Finding out things for the future.  He’s a nationalist but also smart enough To realize that globalization is happening whether anyone wants it to or not.  As it happens countries that aren’t self sufficient are going to get gobbled up by those that are.  There are only  going to be a few options available for non self sufficient countries to hook their ships to.  They better choose wisely.
