There does seem like there needs to be stricter rules, not exactly sure how they go about that….. but yeah posting, “Ohio state is home, I’m staying home, go bucks”, then leaving a few months later does seem dishonest to me

What's the point of "stricter rules" if the NCAA isn't going to enforce the rules?

But that would not be NIL then.  Your image value doesn't dissappear because you move.  That would be more like pay to play and surely no one is doing that.  🙄

Pay to play is exactly what’s happening.  Name/image/Likeness has nothing to do with the portal.

I think we all know that and it is illegal but no one is enforcing the rules.

I can use my name/ image/likeness to sell T shirts, video games or do commercials. I can also transfer to the highest bidder. Completely separate things.

Probably not unless your name is Jimmy Cinnabon ... he has an image & value.  Who wouldn't buy a JC Welch on a Bet t-shirt.

Some may be happy with the Cassar path - lost close battle for starting role, gets the call in the big dula meet against Ohio State and beats the #1 as the PSU backup and then goes up and beats an all-timer for NCAA title.  Kasak and Davis have their own (unfinished stories, where they both found their way into the lineup and have had sucess despite incredible depth at their weights.

You’re assuming Ryder doesn’t beat out Welsh?

Expand

If I am a coach I am taking Ryder 19 turning 20 with 4 years left over welsh 21 turning 22 with 3 years left. That being said Ryder going to OT with AJ Heeg this year does not lead me to think he can beat Rocco yet.

Yeah, it's wild that Rocco didn't end up at OSU. I don't think he'll make the lineup, which sounds crazy to say. Also, isn't Ryder buddies with PJ Duke? If Ryder loses his spot and ends up leaving, PSU risks Duke checking out too.

He was supposed to go visit there and then that got canceled last minute a day or two prior to his commitment. Certainly could not have been money related because PSU does not pay guys so I am not sure what the cause of that was.

U.S. world/olympic medalists during Cael's tenure..

Dake - Cornell

Diakimahalis - Cornell

Arujau - Cornell

Snyder - tOSU

Stieber - tOSU

Burroughs - Nebraska

Green - Nebraska

Lee - Iowa

Gilman - Iowa

Ramos - Iowa

Valencia - ASU

Fix - OKST

Cox - MIZZ

Gwiazdowski - NCST

Parris - Michigan

Steveson - Minnesota

DT - PSU

Retherford - PSU

Brooks - PSU

What does starting at PSU have to do with medaling at worlds? Of all the greats at PSU over the last 15 years, three have gone on to win world medals (this entire list is off the top of my head, it's not 100%). If anything, their dominance at the college level but inability to get those studs on a world team is concerning. I'm being facetious, but honestly.. their dominance at the NCAA level has not at all translated to senior level competition.

Expand

Just to play devils advocate, another way to look at that is that under his tenure, no one has gotten more medals or gold.

(PS I don’t think Ramos ever medaled)

Unless Haines is going to redshirt.

Zach Ryder is very good and is a capable starter. Unless Welsh mans 174, Ryder 184 and Haines takes a RS this move doesn’t work.

Really makes no sense if they lose Ryder, Duke, Henckel as part of the fallout
