Cut ties with Bakersfield or with his lord and savior?

One of the many reasons I was bummed about not going in person this year was it looked on TV like Buchanan got the biggest ovation in history for an Iowa wrestler from the fans not wearing black and gold.

I'm not always sure what these emojis mean, but...that's a fist in solidarity!

He certainly did in our household, not just because he won, but because he took a title chance away, and we can get off the media circus with the most dislikable person to enter the sport I can remember in my lifetime.

Actually, in the building, it wasn't much different from other reactions. I was surprised.

Don’t they drug test the winners every year? Remember Dake asking the NCAA official, on live TV, if he looked like he was on steroids?

I THOUGHT they tested the top 8. All AAs. Maybe that's not the case anymore...but I'm skeptical it's widespread.

I HAVE wondered about an athlete or two who jumped up a couple classes and didn't have acne and now needs blood time for it, but I don't want to be a douche and signal a kid out for nothing other than growing into a weight class and getting bigger.

It's been part of the sport forever.  Internationally it's certainly well known because they do test.  Dianabol was popular in high school 50 years ago.  Fix, Valencia, Oliver are just a few of our guys who got popped.  The ones who don't know how to beat the tests.

Not true at all.  Very loud ovation from many fans, including the large Penn State crowd when AJ lost.  Bigger than other Semi matches and way way bigger than other Iowa wins.

I just disagree.  I was expecting a huge reaction. I went nuts, but it wasn't any louder then other results.

Are you sitting with Iowa people?  I’m not.  Saw and heard fans all around including in Penn State section.  Other Iowa wrestlers got 1/3 the applause or less.

Is it possible that AJ ends up at Michigan?

They are very active in the portal/transfers and have had a few former Bergen Catholic wrestlers come in.
