Gable and it is not close. Snyder took a loss to coon as a senior. Had to come back late and beat gwiz. Steveson would be a really bad matchup for Snyder I think.

Yeah, I AM a huge Kyle Snyder fan, but whatever advantage he had in quickness and foot speed(IF he had one) Gable more than makes up for with the 40-50 pounds...and I'm not sure Stevenson doesn't have quicker feet.

I don't see college Snyder being able to take Gable down.  I think Gable does what he always does.  Scores whenever he feels like scoring and wins something like 6-2.

You mean after the first period, right?

Snyder is too small for Gable.

Snyder was a tweener who used a combination of athletic ability, IQ, gas tank (compared to other NCAA heavies) and technique to make his (lack of) size an advantage.  Gable is arguably better in all these areas and 50-60 lbs. heavier.  Gable destroys Snyder in their college primes.

Do you think Gable has a better gas tank than Snyder?

The only college heavy of my lifetime that I think could compete with Gable would be prime Stephen Neal.  Size, athleticism, gas tank.

Senior Snyder vs Freshman Gable, I'd probably favor Snyder.  But when each at their college peak, its Gable and not close

Anthony Cassar beat Gable. I think he could compete with him.

Can't tell if that's tongue-in-cheek?

Gable was a pretty good heavyweight then. By the Olympic year, he was on another planet and he's never come back. Gable now would tech Gable then.

On the mat, Anthony Cassar is 2-0 against Gable Steveson.

Well if it's heat you want, I'll bite.  That's an insane take.  Certifiably so.

LOL maybe.  But doesn't Hendrickson sort of remind you of Coon?  Just a big mammoth heavyweight that Snyder would have a hard time moving around.  I think Hendrickson is probably more athletic too.

I'm curious how the Kerk v Snyder live matches go in the PSU room.  Have to think Snyder gets the better of him, but I don't doubt it's competitive.

In freestyle, I'd say all three of Gable/Hendrickson/Kerk are probably top 10 in the world, right now.  We've had a glut of world-level talent at HWT the last several years, which suddenly drops off next year.

I think it's incredible that Snyder wrestled up at heavyweight and won against really good NCAA competition.  It was never his weight class.  He was just that good.  I think there is a zero percent chance he ever would have entered heavyweight if they were in college at the same time.  And why would he?  Who weighs in 50 lbs light against equal competition?  I don't think you can definitively say anyone has ever been better at wrestling while in college than Kyle Snyder was.  He's firmly in the conversation for the highest peak of any NCAA wrestler ever.

But weight classes matter.  He wasn't the best or probably even one of the best NCAA heavyweights ever because he was never seriously a heavyweight.  The entire time he was still wrestling 211 the moment the season was over.  There wasn't even a chance to do a dirty bulk job to 245-250.  I don't see any way he competes with Gable, just like I see no way he loses to senior year Kyle Dake.  It just isn't fair to give up that much weight at the highest level.

I may catch heat for this but I think Snyder would be the 4th best heavy this year at NCAAs

He would take apart Hendrickson technically and would probably beat Kerk more than Kerk beats him, but it would be somewhat back and forth/ maybe a 7/3 or 8/2 split out of 10 matches.

Hendrickson and Coon are not that similar at all.

Kerk's comp is closer to Medberry, King Cole, Coon. Tall, limited elite offense, absolute bull elephant of a human being

Kerk's offense is really good, actually. It's at worst second best in the country. certainly not limited and has variation. great ankle pick, great double leg, can work short offense.
