If the deal hadn't been hammered out then I don't know why Zelenskyy would've thought they'd reached a new deal in front of the media.  I was expecting the mineral deal would imply (without being stated) that US would protect their companies and investment.  There was no expectation they would provide blanket security for Ukraine.  They minerals were for passed support not necessarily future.  But once US companies were involved it means a certain level of security to protect the investment

Zalensky did not invite the media.  Is the deal is important and there are significant disagreements then why invite the media to the meeting?  Who set up the meeting and invited the media?

Vance accused Zalensky of litigating things in front of the public for pointing out that Russia has broke previous agreements with Ukraine.  Vance seemed to acknowledge it was a dispute.  Why invite the media to ask questions when there is a dispute and then get upset with Zalensky for making his case by stating facts?

Does anybody else here realize that for the U.S. to commit to the “concrete security guarantees” that Zelensky repeatedly calls for is the recipe, the first step on a short path to WWIII?  ...

If they are discussing something so important that it is risking WWIIi then it's incredibly dumb to demand thank you from one side as Vance did.

I agree, Vance came off pretty bad IMO.  He made incorrect statements, then got pissy because Zelenskyy corrected him on those statements.  Trump and Zelenskyy were talking fine until Vance butted in.

Kind've my point if Zelenskyy knew he wasn't ok with the mineral agreement as proposed, hadn't signed it before, then why did he fly all the way to DC and agree to have the meeting in front of the media.  He could've requested a private meeting because they still had details to hammer out.  This was presented as a media event because both parties are ready to sign.  Yesterday Zelenskyy said they are willing to sign the mineral agreement.  So yeah whats going on?
