Data?  Doubt this.

Without the portal Spratley and Jamison are likely at Minnesota. Amine and Hamiti still likely at their previous schools.

Parco, Teemer, Buchanon, Caliendo are unlikely at Iowa

Who knows if Mesenbrink leaves CBU, Nagao is still at Minnesota, Kerkvliet may still be at tOSU, and who knows how many guys would have committed somewhere else if they couldn't freely transfer if they failed to make the starting lineup.

That is 11 wrestlers right there that have been funneled away from other programs to the big 3. The talent has always been highly concentrated, but at this point, it's hard to imagine PSU, OKST, or Iowa having something in their starting lineup that isn't a top 15 guy in the country. I don't understand how Iowa has such a hole at 141.

Iowas hole at 141 boggles my mind. They get 3 hi powered transfers for this season only, to try to make a run and completely neglect 141. What was their plan for 141 to start the year?

Not sure, but I think Otto was supposed to be the high-powered 141, but he just transferred to a JC and it's not even clear that he was ever enrolled at Iowa. Contingency was probably Rotchy or Estrada, but they can't make the weight. Brands will probably shop the portal for a 1-2 season rental. Dunno if BB would go 141 the year after next.

Many kids will want to go to the program & coach that will get them to the top.

Penn State appears to be that program for now. Just as Iowa under Gary Kurdelmeier/Dan Gable.

NIL all you want. No one team gets every top recruit. No coach wants every top recruit. Sounds nice but in practice some kids just don't fit a coach/program.

I have a question...is all it takes is a bunch of millionaires/billionaire to give a lot of money to a school collective/NIL to instantly make them successful....or, orrr...is there a lot more to it and the successful programs have always had a winning formula even before NIL that other schools haven't been able to figure out????

[gasp!]

Are you suggesting that wrestling success comes from having a long term established culture of wrestling, coaches who know how to build and maintain a team while also bettering their individual athletes, and a broader community that cares about, invests in and supports that effort?!

The gall of you to suggest such a thing!

LOL....This isn't parity ..... parity means equal amount of something.... the only thing getting "more equal" is that  the #2 and #3 teams closing the gap on #1 because they have spent lot of money with recruiting and poaching good transfers from mid-tier teams. How is that parity for NCAA wrestling?

When does parity arrive?  Well, the life expectancy for a male born in 1979 (Cael Sanderson) was  estimated to be 70 years.

So, simple math suggests parity might arrive around 2049 if Sanderson keeps on ticking with gratitude and beatitude.  But since he looks to be in good health and excellent shape, you might want to add another 10 years to the reign of the Empire.

What's the PSU win streak now?  71 matches? At approximately 15 matches on average each year, we are looking at a possible streak of about 450 matches.

However, it might conceivably end much sooner as humans fully become cybernetic organisms and Robo-Sapien wrestling supplants the present form with the arrival of the Singularity.   Just sayin'.  As you can see in the image below, NCAA rules might need to change to make sense of moves that start from a "3 on 1" or "triple boots" and so on.

Iowa and OkSt could combine rosters and still not beat Penn State in a dual this year. And honestly, I love it. Watching this level of dominance is as exciting to me as a competitive team race. And besides, the team race for #2 is still competitive!

I know all about could’ve, should’ve, would’ve, but if Cassar doesn’t get hurt in 2020, we could be looking at a PSU win streak of 130 or 140.
