Watching Keuter get absolutely ragdolled by Pindrickson last night made me question if Keuter will ever develop into a top tier heavyweight.  Currently at 220 pounds he's just too small for the top heavies who are just as athletic.  I think he needs to gain 20-30 pounds of muscle this offseason, but I couldn't help but think of Jan Johnson watching when watching Pindrickson use Keuter as a human mat mop last night.

I don't have any sense for where Keuter is between wrestling and football, but he'll probably be in the mix if he sticks with wrestling. The weight will clear out quite a bit next season.

Obviously not my decision and he should follow his passion, but...life after college as a wrestler vs. a football player seems like a no-brainer to me. If he's truly good enough to play football at the next level (I don't know if he is or not...just saw he was one of the top LB's coming out of HS), I'm surprised he's spending any time not getting better at football.

I'm sure that's a big consideration with putting on weight for wrestling. If he puts on an extra 20-30 pounds to compete better with the big Hwt's, does that impact his speed/explosiveness/agility/etc. as a linebacker.

Yes, I've said multiple times if he has a half decent shot at being drafted (like even a 25% chance) he absolutely should give up wrestling and focus on football.  An average NFL LB makes more in a 2-5 year career than Spencer Lee (the GOAT) will over the course of his entire wrestling career.  It's not even close how much more $$$ there is in football over wrestling.

Keuter is the highest ranked freshman HWT, with a win over a returning AA, but isn't as competitive with the top 3 guys who are all seniors.   And the question is will he ever be a top tier guy?

You should read this guy's posts. He says Kueter is already an AA.

Life during college, too. Next season's (supposed) House settlement $ + a piece of football NIL $ could sway his decision. I wonder how it would compare to what he gets wrestling at Iowa, where he's a bigger fish in a smaller pond.

I think Keuter can be a very good 285, but only if he is training wrestling year-round.

I have said before and will say it again knowing how big time CFB works I believe that Keuter was told to wrestle by Ferentz because he didn't view him as being in their plans. I could be wrong, but those guys are taking care of themselves not entertaining the desired of a kid torn between two worlds. If Ferentz believed Keuter is on the 2-deep or 3-deep he does not let him pause football for a year. Just not how that sport typically works.

Any significance to Ferentz attending the dual? I figured it's nothing, but some folks were talking.

I have no clue. My experience is an acquaintance worked for a B1G football coach and when you are close to it you get a feel for how things work. It is just pure speculation on my part so I very likely could be wrong.

Makes sense. The situation could very well clear itself up if Keuter doesn't make the football roster cap next year.

These are just my thoughts never being very high level at anything but if Ben were this perennial draft pick superstar football player I just don't think he would have forgone this season to wrestle. Those are just my thoughts though and maybe putting on weight will put him back in the mix for both.

Given that Ferentz was in attendance it would not surprise me if the conversation was generated by Kueter, meaning maybe Kueter approached Ferentz to say he had an NIL offer on the wrestling side that he needed to make a decision about. Ferentz may have then advised him to take the money because he was not in the near term plans for the football team. If that were the case I could see Ferentz going to see how he is doing at wrestling since the door was not completely closed on the football side.

They didn’t pick a great match to showcase Keuter’s wrestling prowess…

No he did not. Maybe that is better for his potential football career.

I am not a very good talent evaluator...but...not only is Hendrickson bigger and stronger. He is easily 2x as fast, and certainly more athletic.

Kueter might or might not get bigger. But where is some speed coming from?

One might say Hendrickson's size was what slowed kueter down, but imo they'd be wrong, because Hendrickson was scoring at will from space

Yea it's probably pretty embarrassing for him. Poor Kueter has had a tough time recently having to wrestle Gable kerk and Hendrickson.

It's also really hard to put on 30 pounds of good weight.  I don't think it could be done in a single year and would be surprised if he could put on that kind of size by the end of his career.

Hopefully Kueter learns from these losses and keeps improving. Next year the monsters are all gone so hopefully Keuter sticks with it.

I don’t see it happening unless he drops football. Even then, I have not been impressed with his agility or quickness in the matches that I have seen.
