Additionally it was rumored that Mendez, Bouzakis and Feldman all commanded nice NIL deals. Thirdly, when Welsh was taking a visit to OKSt this year it was reportedly resolved via NIL.

But there are three teams out there that have more money, have more history, and have at minimum equivalent coaching staffs. NIL money isn't spent only on new recruits and transfers. You also have to utilize NIL to keep the guys you have. People mentioning Ohio State football--$16MM of that $20MM was spent on their own guys. ------- To the question at hand, I guess it depends. Is a top 5 team that occasionally takes home a trophy "cooked"? I think that's who they are in the current landscape, so if that qualifies then sure, they're cooked. 1 1

Expand OSU had a scrub QB pulling down over a million a year in NIL money. That's a lot of money for a backup QB, OSU should've spent that money on their wrestling program, obviously.

The guy I'm referring to, Ewers, transferred to Texas from OSU where he became the starting QB and later lost to OSU in the football semifinals. I can't remember what godawful amount of NIL money it took to get him to transfer to the Longhorns.

Not many programs can say that yes the production of D’Emilio, Gallagher, and Kharchla haven’t been as expected but you still have Mendez who is a beast, Welch next year and we saw what he can do, and Davino has looked good in short term they still have a young team. Am I expecting them to win a championship anytime soon? No, not with Penn state’s dynasty and what OkSt is starting to do, but yes I do expect to be consistently in the top 5ish Edited February 4 by Kov88

I think after next year we’ll get rid of most of the free covid year guys (although Kharchla in particular did not compete that year), but even in 2027 there will still be a couple left if they took both a regular redshirt and another type of redshirt. 1

Apparently Dave Portnoy helped arrange the deal to get him. I do think the deal is spread over 4 years though, so he might still be behind Arch Manning (who just got another ridic Red Bull deal). 1
