Don’t know much about this kid Dreshaun Ross, but sounds like he has the potential to do both.

Does Kueter dropping football after 1 season give Iowa less of a chance at him if he’s trying to do both?

Yes,  most recent I think was Jan Johnson.  Wrestled in some duals his freshman year.

Looks like his wrestling career didn’t pan out too well.  1-9.

But thank you for inspiring me to look up his wrestlestat and discover that there is someone named “McZiggy Richards”

Didn't Jimmy Lawson play football?

He played at a lower level college.  Don't know which school.  Then he transferred to Penn State to wrestle

Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and exuberance.

Kids a freak, I worry about him almost being too athletic to where its destructive for his body. I think he's on two shoulder surgeries already. There was a bit of smoke that he may go to the same school as Bassett but I don't know if there was any substance to that. He is a Seabolt guy so I would be a bit shocked to see him leave Iowa but who knows.

Dave Joyner. 1971 NCAA Hwt runner-up and consensus football AA. Was also PSU Athletic Director as well as orthopedic surgeon.

The guy who beat Dave in the NCAA finals, Greg Wojchiechowski, is being induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame this year.

Athletes competing in both football and wrestling used to be common.  I think it fell by the wayside in the mid-1970s; Iowa (I think just before Gable took over as HC) allowed Greg Stevens (NCAA 2nd) and John Bowlsby (3rd) to play football in 1975 and both were injured and missed the 1975-76 season.  Wrestling coaches took notice.

Penn States Mike Ried was an unbelievable athlete:  I know I was there at the time and was on the track team with him.  Yes he not only played All American football (and all Pro NFL), and yes wrestle, he was on the track team as a damn good shot putter.  After practice everyday he'd challenge all the field guys (I was a pole vaulter) to a 60 yard sprint and none of us could beat him.

In 1999 PSU Football player Rick Bolinsky a 1996 PIAA Champ from North Schuylkill, made the starting lineup and wrestled heavyweight for a few matches.
