First coaches ranking is out... must have 8 D1 matches at the weight and 1 in the last 30 days... so some guys are not included because of that reason. The one that matters is the last one.

Ramos (125), Mendez (141), Henson (149), Kasak (157), Mesenbrink (165), O'Toole (174), and Kerkvliet (285) all unanimous.

Ayala (133) likely had 6 first place and 8 second place votes. That is the lowest consensus.

Starocci (184) and Buchanan (197) likely had 12 first place and 2 second place votes.

8 match minimum. That explains Steveson not being ranked.

Here's how I see it

125 Ramos - I don't think Figs will round into top form by NCAAs

133 Ayala

141 Mendez

149 Henson

157 Kasak  Shapiro will be wearing a leather football helmet if he makes it to the finals.

165 Mesenbrink

174 Haines Hard to pick against KOT, but I figure Cael will have figured out a way for Haines to beat him the next time.

184 Starocci   My heart says Keck, my brain says Starocci.

197 Buchanon, but only because Ferrari is in a weak room and won't be peaked by NCAAs.

HWT Steveson, although I think Kerk will make it interesting.

Ferrari will have Munoz #10, Little #5, Hopkins #31 to round out the season then Munoz and/or Little at Pac 12. We will see where he  stands after these matches, but he certainly will not be battle tested like the others heading to the NCAA.

Figs hasn't wrestled real great coming off injury, but he did the same last year. He lost to Spratley, Provo and Renteria in February...then went on a 10 match win streak to win it. I wouldn't pick him to win it right now, but I also wouldn't be surprised at the same time.

Using the coaches rank, wrestlestat RPI (I assumed everybody who is listed with at least five matches on their will get to the minimum 15 which I know is probably a stretch, and winning percentage). I have the following allocations. Obviously these will shift when some of the guys mentioned get into the coaches ranking.

  125 133 141 149 157 165 174 184 197 285 Total
ACC 5 3 4 5 3 5 5 3 3 4 40
Big 10 9 10 7 9 7 8 6 9 10 10 85
Big 12 6 6 8 7 7 8 6 8 5 4 65
EIWA 2 2 3 1 3 1 5 1 4 2 24
Ivy 4 2 3 2 2 2 2 3 2 1 23
MAC 1 2 1 2 4 2 3 3 1 4 23
PAC 12 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 3 13
SoCon 1 2 2 1 1 2 1 1 1 1 13
  29 28 29 28 28 29 29 29 28 29

Missing from the poll due to the 8 bout minimum:

Carson Kharchla #6 at 174
Andrew Alirez #2 at 141
Dylan Cedeno #20 at 141
Ryan Crookham #1 at 133
Gable Steveson #1 at 285

Reece Witcraft and Kaleb Henson in the poll even though they do not technically qualify.

Their last match was 12/19. The portal for naming starters closed 1/19. That's 31 days since they last wrestled. There is a requirement to have wrestled at least once in the last 30 days.

So are supposed to believe the coaches watch all the kids to rank them?

Who is that a question for and is it in reference to anything in particular?

Shapiro (Intermat #2) at 157 and Foca (#7) at 184 also under 8 bout minimum and missing from the poll.

The Pac-12 only gets the champion as an automatic qualifier this year due to being only 4 teams. All the rest go into the at-large selections.... so they only get 10.  At the end of the day they will have 3 at 197 in the NCAAs. Lots of wrestling left for Pac12 wrestlers to earn an at large.
