Not in Ohio in 70's-80's...

What states have RT now?

That's actually shocking to me, because I thought everybody had RT back in the 70s/80s.  Did you guys just go SV after all tie matches?

I don't follow HS wrestling much anymore, except for "Who is #1" type competitions, so I can't tell you who has RT now in HS.

Yes we had riding time in High school. If my memory is correct you could accumulate 2 points for riding 2 minutes. The good old days. I'm not sure when they changed it.

You wrestled in Ohio?

I've never heard of HS RT. I'm equally shocked...

Buddy, we had RT in Elementary School. A friend of mine won elementary state at HWT on a RT point. He quit wrestling after 6th grade and never wrestled another match. Damn shame, he'd have definitely won state in HS.

You had up to 2 pts RT in HS? It was only 1 point when I was in HS. I was a monster on top, I'd have gotten 2 pts nearly every match from RT 😄

I would've guessed you're more likely to wear people out on bottom a la Thomas Gilman style. Or as many like to call it, a "power bottom".

238 per HR

Is he purposely holding his weight down for football or what? He's like 6'3, I'd imagine getting up to 250s would not be as difficult as it seems to be. I know they don't wanna throw bad weight on, but looks like he's got a ways to go to fill out that frame.

Not sure about Kueter, but Feldman weighed in for B10’s last year at 232

He was 235.3 at National Duals.

Holding his weight down makes very little sense.

Most OLB that are being drafted high are in the ~255-265lb range aren't they?

Not really sure what the thought process is, but it would not surprise me if he is trying to put on weight but it is going slowly. On HR they also speculate that 265 is the right football weight if he wants to be a hand-on-the-ground, rush-that-passer, get-the-man-paid type linebacker. If he can do that and maintain explosiveness it seems like that would be a problem for other heavyweights to handle too.

Do people on HR think he might go back to also playing football?

No consensus. But his mom is very unhappy with a couple of posters, so who knows.

That's not a bad weight for a HWT. If a guy has the chops he can make the fat boys look pretty dumb when being outweighed by a lot. 235 is big enough to have some power, but small enough to have a speed edge on most heavies. Cassar was never even 235, was he? Nor Snyder?

That's pretty big for a linebacker. Here's something google found.

The average NFL linebacker is 6'2" and weighs around 220–245 lbs. However, the average weight of an NFL player can vary by year

I think he strives to start and be a star, which was what I meant.

The problem with this is that I'm not sure Mendez would take out Parco. I say this as a Mendez Stan. He's my favorite current NCAA wrestler to watch. He's a bulldog. He has sought out competition and has some really impressive results.

When I read this, I had flashbacks to Rivera bumping up to wrestle Micic and getting absolutely worked over. On a relative scale, I think Mendez is better than Rivera, and Parco isn't quite as good a Micic, but he is a four-time AA and a title contender at 149. So while I don't think Mendez would be beaten like Rivera was, it's a tall task to ask him to bump up and beat a guy like Parco for a dual they aren't winning as a team anyway.

Rivera is/was pretty good!  I'll be super happy if we get Olympic medals out of Mendez.

Didn't he win a medal for Puerto Rico in the Olympics or Worlds?

For sure. Rivera is/was very good. While I was just thinking about their relative collegiate levels, I'll also be pumped if Mendez ends up with Olympic medals. If he sticks at 65KG it will be tough, but Mendez does have a U20 World silver and impressive domestic wins against McKenna, Green, Yanni and Garrett (TF) at the US Olympic Trials last year, losing to Zain, 3-2.

Rivera also beat Spencer Lee in college.  Twice?

I'm not arguing that Rivera sucks. They guy went 115-20 for his career and finished 6/3/4/3. He's very good. I just think Mendez is better.
