A headline can be a little inflammatory and no one will panic. "Ono is one of the best wrestlers on earth right now", "Which Penn State Wrestlers COULD be upset on friday".  If you want clicks how about some hot takes and not a bunch of lame qualifications for every statement.

If you think I'm a nit picky jerk fine, unfortunately I'm permanently annoyed our most prolific media outlet produces such lame content.

I couldn't disagree more. The hot take sports media is the worst of all. People make claims just to create discussion, without even believing what they are saying. I can't watch a lot of sports shows because of this. I also feel duped and irritated when I see a video or article with a clickbaity title and then after several minutes reading/watching I realize that I just wasted my time because the content did not at all accomplish what the title suggested. I prefer the qualifiers and the solid, rational, reasonable takes that follow.

I don't need disingenuous titles and takes to catch my interest, but that's just my opinion.

I don't really understand the overwhelming disgust for Flo that so many people harbor. They're the best thing that has ever happened for fans of wrestling. Sure, there have been some hiccups (some bigger than others along the way), but when I was in high school and Flo started growing, it was the first time I was able to watch matches from Ironman, CKLV, Southern Scuffle, etc. Before that, all I knew were youtube videos of old NCAA matches and the NCAA Finals once a year.

The turkeys who write for Yahoo.com?

Or maybe even USA Today?

Reality is that many are poorly written. Often followed by a story that does not cover the basics in the first two paragraphs.\

When younger the headline would read "Yankees win, details inside". News broadcasts would tease with "XXX win, details at 11".

This gave us the basic information and we could read further or listen later for details that helped flesh out the story.

USA Today came out with news stories truncated and dumbed down for those who can't read for more than a few minutes. Other papers followed the trend and we have many stories reported that don 't cover the basics, Who - What -When - Where - Why and sometimes How.

From poorly composed headlines to cutlines that are not clear under images & photos to artlcles that fail to report the facts we are seeing mediocrity in action.

I think Flo’s content is generally pretty good and Pyle in particular does a good job on FRL, but his solo videos are bad.  I don’t have an issue with the titles (like “which Penn State wrestlers could be upset”) but he usually takes like 10 minutes to say something that could be said in 2.

i don't think FLO has any legit professional writers working for them, or any legitimate editors. They have a bunch of wrestling nerds, no offense, pretending to be writers.

If they were doing what you say they should be doing in this regard, I firmly believe that you would whine about that.  You are an inherent complainer … just your nature.

They have one of the GOATS, Andy Hamilton. Kyle Klingman’s resume also speaks for itself - so from a position of “professional” writers, they have two of the best the sport has.

Andy coordinates a network of writers who do the “insider” stories they feature on a number of programs.

Guys like Jim Carlson and Travis Johnson have bonafide careers in journalism, others like Brian Reinhardt are former SIDs. There’s also some guys like Nick Corey and Dylan Guenther who have written for different spots, usually centered around a certain region or school. The insider stories are consistent and good reads. Engagement headlines for the social juice is just part of the world now - like most places - there’s always going to be a stinker of a headline here and there.

That surprises me considering the low quality of most of the articles from a writing standpoint. Thanks for correcting my assumption.

Nope. Go over and read some of their articles for yourself. They are rife with misspellings and poor grammar.

You're the guy who just wrote a whole breakdown about where Bo Bassett is going to school next year with the incorrect assumption that he is a senior. Maybe you can forgive Flo for a couple typos?

I'm not getting paid to prognosticate on this site. They are paid on FLO. Are you offering to pay me?

A lot of the "articles" are really just blogs to provide some insight to an upcoming dual or tournament. They probably aren't bothering to pay an editor to check for grammar and typos for a breakdown of Iowa vs Illinois, which will be read for two days and then never look at again. It's not exactly the Washington Post.

The Washington Post, btw, is moving to AI written articles. Bezos has utterly destroyed that formerly great newspaper.

Can you cite your source?

When I was a kid I wrote to the local newspaper to suggest they hire me as a proof reader. I was something like 10 years old. So I get the OP.

Flo is Flo in name only.  I’d venture easy 50% of the people who read Flo do it out of reflex remembering when Flo used to legitimately rewrite the playbook for wrestling coverage every month.

They invest maybe 10% of the effort they used to.  It is just a corporate click and subscription hunting webpage anymore.

Maybe the Flo platform really breaks ground in other sports, but Flowrestling specifically is a cold stinky skeleton of what it used to be.

Where do you watch the U.S. open across age divisions? Where do you watch WTT across all age divisions? Where do you watch Final X? Where do you watch CKLV, or Ironman? If anything, the success that Flo has had in streaming duals has led to other entities becoming buyers for the rights to stream duals. You tell me where you were watching B1G duals in 2007. They invest 10% of the effort they used to? How so? They provide content whether predictions, or breakdowns of duals/tournaments they don't have the right to air, as well as promoting wrestling beyond any other entertainment media.

If Flo is so bad, who is covering and promoting the sport better than Flo?
