Based on his performance at multiple lower level civilian positions in government? His performance as a flag grade officer with Joint experience?

Why would his stock keep on rising?

As he's going on about "up and coming promising candidate for years" I legit stifled a laugh.  There was legitimate shock when the Hegseth nomination was announced, muted by the shock of Gaetz.  The Hegseth shock was more in the "huh?" range than the Gaetz reaction, lol.

Because people keep recognizing his leadership qualities.

Decided to do some digging.  Here are the results for the name "Hegseth" on this very forum for the entirety of it's existence up until just before he was announced.  Like I said, backbencher and a nobody, relatively speaking.Hegsethsearch.thumb.JPG.519d5c573659329315e0a57b77f83948.JPG

He got fired from his last two leadership positions.

What is it about Hegseth that creates the opposition?   I thought he represented himself well before the committee.   He obviously has the welfare of the troops as his top concern.   Is that bad?

There are literally tens or hundreds of thousands of people more qualified who haven’t written books on which they fantasize about using the US military to kill US citizens on American soil.

His ideas about “welfare of the troops” are insane. The dude lives in an alternate world completely disconnected from reality.

Truly wondrous how he appeared 4 days ago and had never said or done a single public thing before his hearing.

How is that bad?  Look at where the military is now with people you ostensibly like.   Recruitment is down.   We don't have enough soldiers to meet demand for preparedness.  That's what the pro's have given us.   We need that to change, so maybe Hegseth is the right guy to initiate that change.     They may even be able to pass an audit with him.   The pro's don't seem to be able to do that.  "Gee Mr. Auditor, we really don't know where that $150 billion went.   It just disappeared."   Yes, this is what the professionals have given us.   Apparently you want more of that.

Biden put all sorts of surprising people in leadership positions. Trump will do the same. If some don’t perform they will be replaced. Just like all the people Biden replaced for non-performance.

If you think the guy who misappropriated $10,00,000 at a conservative veterans charity is the guy to manage an $800,000,000,000+ budget, well, you’ll get what you asked for.

You guys can learn to address him as Secretary Hegseth.

That is correct. He will be confirmed. After 4 years of Biden, Kamala and Mayorkas I think Pete will do just fine.

By the way, what happened to the democrats during the Kristi Noem's confirmation hearings today? For the most part they acted civil. What gives. Was Mayorkas's time as the Secretary of DHS so bad they just want to move on as quickly as possible.

It's bad because he's ridiculously underqualified.

Are you arguing that Hegseth is a good idea because he's... a change rather than an experienced professional?

You sound exactly like those DEI folks.

It should be about "merit", and Hegseth has zero merit. Let's get someone who is qualified there.
