Not in IT.

It works in your browser because you have the app. Without the app the Chinese government is not able to gather the info on you that they want, so to view, even in a browser, they push you to first download the app.

Say hello to Xi Jinping for me.

you can watch tiktok videos without the app.  I don't have it, will never have but can confirm videos are accessible to the general public

And yet they do not play for me. Instead it sends me to the app store to get the app.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

Have to be in desktop mode.  You're  not missing much.. Once in a blue moon someone will send me a funny video or a sports clip but most of those you can find on other media platforms

Looks like Oracle is trusting Trump that they won't be subject to the fines associated with the law, but Apple and Google are not. They have not restored the app to their app stores.

Tom Cotton has assured them Trump doesn't have the authority to do what he says and they will be subject to the fines.

Not to mention tik tok tuns on oracles cloud …..  they don’t want the loss of that revenue either.

I agree with Tom Cotton once in a blue moon and today is one of those days.

Trump was the genesis of the TikTok ban. Now, he wants to keep it alive because he and his can benefit from it in some way. Maybe he can buy it with his crypto earnings.

"App stores and service providers face a daily $5,000 fine for every user who can still access TikTok, and those penalties easily add up to billions of dollars."

If this is just calculated on Oracle being on the hook for everyone with it installed in the US, they're already facing a fine in the billions after one day.

They won’t pay $1 in fines.

Tiktok wasn't even going to be banned. The law was going to force its sale so that the Chinese don't have access to the data of everyone in the country.  Think about how many Americans are immediately compromised because of this.  The CCP knew that Trump wasn't going to enforce the law, so they had no reason to sell.

China has hacked every federal database and we choose to focus on TikTok.

The amount of information they get on people with tiktok is orders of magnitude larger than any type of hack on a federal database. They also have the power to influence people to support pro CCP policies by controlling what's shown on Tiktok.

So you guys decided, why make the Chinese work so hard? We will just give them what they want.

It’s kind of weird how the former “Better dead than Red” party seems to be made of Chinese and Russian sympathizers these days.

Biden just pardoned two Chinese spies.  One of which was a pedophile.

Ok, current FBI director. TikTok is not the biggest threat coming out of China according to him.

What do you think TikTok is, if not a cyber threat?

Biden released them from prison as part of a prisoner exchange with China.

Which is, of course, widely available information if you actually had the inclination to look for it.
