It's going to end up being Ramos, going from dnp to champ

Is there a Ramos that I'm unaware of? I don't think a former national runner-up really fits this category..

Very true, but I thought we were comparing last season to this season.  I am also a Purdue fan and would love to see them get a champ.  Purdue hasn't had a champ in quite a while.

Gable had 0 wins last season and now look how well he's doing. Quite the turnaround

I think you are on to something there.  In fact was he even a wrestler last year?  If he wins it all surely he will be the thread's most improved.  🤔

Joey Blaze is another who has improved a lot. 1-2 last year at CKLV to 6th this year (semi loss, MFF to 6th)

He had taken out good guys last year like Peyton Robb and Ed Scott, but he appears to be closer to the top 10 this year. Wrestle stat had him last year at #24 to end the year and he is now #10 according to them.

I wouldn't count Ventresca. he was a shell of himself last year only b/c of an injury so bad that they shut him down.

agree, kinda, on Paddy. if you look at his year last season prior to injury, there were signs that this was on the horizon.

TBD

Isaac Dean, had no clue who he was until CKLV. 12-14 last year

Only reason I even knew who he was is because I saw Rutgers's Brian Soldano pin him for a state title.   He's come a long way since then.

I nominate Cal State Bakersfield heavyweight Jake Andrews.

Freshman year: 1-10

Sophomore year: 1-17

Last year: 7-16, best win was over wrestlestat #75, a backup for Cal Poly

So far this year: 7-2, best win is over 2x NQ and wrestlestat #31 Trevor Tinker of Cal Poly and also has wins over wrestlestat #60 and 69, the most recent of which was a major decision in their dual against Michigan State.

Dare I say possibly training with the Focus could have helped him?

Any other nominations?  Cal Poly’s Zeth Romney could be an option, but he was already pretty good last season.  But he did lose 16-3 Evan Frost at CKLV last year only to beat him 7-3 this year.

Jake Andrews is now 21-2 on the season.

And unlike AJ he wrestled in the Little Rock and Oregon State duals
