I'm suspcious of a positive causal correlation between drinking and weight gain. As a professional alcoholic, I know that if I drink, I drink and abstain from extraneous calorie consumption, I.e. I don't eat. Eating gets in the way of the primary objective, I.e. to get drunk and continue destroying my life. I know that there is more than one way to win the race to the bottom, but fatdrunk is once that I'm not familiar with.

This is very true. The fat drunk is usually more a case of gluttony, overindulgence, and lack of physical activity. The true alcoholics that I have seen in my lifetime rarely eat, at most once a day, and usually the same thing that they know their stomach can tolerate.

My wife's uncle was an alcoholic who would just sit and sip his beer at all times.  Christmas dinner?  He's sit at the table and sip his beer.  Never ate.  Said he didn't want to ruin his buzz.
