PJ duke expressed that he will stay 70kg and wants to make the world team next year. Assuming both Green and pantaleo wrestle at trials I think PJ will be the 3 seed. At this point in their careers I think it is safe to assume that Green and Pantaleo are no longer getting better at least from a physical standpoint where as PJ is probably making the most strides he will make in the next year or two. The same can be said for Marcus Blaze who I assume will also be the 2 or 3 seed for world team trials if he goes 61kg. Forrest also took 4th at trials albeit from a Desanto default so hes probably worth noting. I would probably not predict either guy to make the team next year at least no right now although I give PJ better odds simply because he does not have to beat Vito. A lot has been made about our lack of success this year but I think when you look at the possibility of putting two 18 year olds on our team and having confidence that they could go medal it paints a better picture of what the next decade of United States wrestling could look like.

What's his projected college weight? 70kg is great for now, but I'm wondering if he'll be an Olympic weight tweener.

I would guess he starts at 157 but probably goes up to 165. The consensus seems to be he will have to work to make 70kg again next year. His strength is definitely a huge asset for him so Id like to see him grow to 165 rather than come up from 157 to 74kg.

That is quite a few! Do we thrown in Kerk?  Dean?

I was really primarily thinking about: Davis, Carter, Brooks, Kasak.

Poor Facundo.

Kerk - 220 -> 240 -> 250 -> 260 (He has looked progressively bigger each season...)

For the sake of this post, I believe most would consider him a high schooler come WTT and Final X. He will either be in the final days of his senior year or just graduated depending on graduation date.

I looked several times and saw no Haines

Haines 145 HS->157 ->174

That's a pretty substantial jump
Ed Ruth 174-184
Didn't Q. Wright go from '74-'84 to '97?

He wrestled 70 KG his senior year.

I had the weights for end of high school senior.

If we're to include high school then Hayden Zillmer wins:  88 -> 285

Has this ever occurred in freestyle? Probably have to go back to before WWII or something.

I recall Jake Dietchler in 2008 for Greco. I am not aware of anyone in Freestyle.

"A Junior World champion at 15 years old, Jimmy placed sixth at the 1971 Senior World Championships as a 16-year-old and competed in the 1972 Olympics as a 17-year-old high school junior, becoming the youngest American wrestler to compete in the Olympics."

Just in case anyone isn't aware, Jimmy Carr is David Carr's uncle.

But why would we? This is about Penn State. If it was just about biggest growth spurts...I'd have mentioned Tommy Rowlands. I think he wrestled at every weight in HS.

I just included the last weight Haines wrestled at in HS as using the International Weights is more difficult as it often forces guys to go up or down.

But it wasn't about who "wins" it was just..Haines last Wrestled at 45 in HS, '57 and now '74.

Anthony Cassar, the only guy to beat Gable, '97 and then actually moved up and added enough weight to win a HWT title.

Truax also started at '74, then '84 to '97 then back to '84.
Bartlett was Wrestling up at '49. He was a '38 pounder in HS...only moved up to '49 to get into the lineup.

Since you only want to count Penn State, Truax only counts senior year, no Zillmer, and no junior year of high school (because 11th grade in high school =/= Penn State, right? - FYI he wrestled 157lbs in college opens his senior year and was ranked at 160lbs all year, not 145).

No reason to include other conversation points.  At all.  Ever.
