The answer is fairly simple. Iran has a strong secular population and both Dems and Republicans believe a friendly relationship is a bridge we can mend in the future. Israel also has strong ties to that same secular population. As for Russia both parties (D&R) have tried to maintain some sort of relationship with Putin. It's not a negative. The remnants of the Iron Curtain is on its last leg and it is important we keep an open dialogue. It would be far worse for our future if Russia lands in the lap of China.
