should be a good match to see where Sadulaev is really at. Bagaev is very good obviously he won Russian nats but in my opinion an in for Sadulaev has his way with him. Bagaev did lose to Cardenas last year and I would not expect Cardenas to go 6 minutes with Sadulaev.

DT's like, man, what did I get myself into...

Haha. Agree its tough but his legacy is secure. Pretty much owned 86kg from 2018 to 2023 and was in my opinion the best guy in the weight since 2017. People forget he smoked Cox in match 1 and would certainly have won worlds that year. Any other medal he picks up here is just a bonus.

Word on the street is that the Magic Man planned to stay retired but only came back because Burroughs of all people convinced him they should go out on top, and Taylor had communication with Sadulaev - his return was the make or break in the decision. Apparently he has wanted to work out with Sadulaev for years

Just a very juicy rumor, but from a source I personally believe. I figured someone would have shared by now so take it with a heap of salt.

Sadulaev won 10-7

zero offense of his own gimme DT if he can avoid the chest wrap.

The only reason he got that chest wrap off was because Bugaev didn't close off... kind of sat there once he got in.  Taylor is going to finish those shots pretty quickly and pretty easily.

Id love to see DT come out and sting him early and make Sadulaev wrestle him I honestly could see DT blowing him out if thats the case. If sadulaev makes it a slow match in a few positions things get scary then.

Nice. As long as Taylor takes the match seriously and doesn't come out of pseudo-retirement underestimating Sadulaev's athleticism. It would be the worst to see DT turn his training camp into a circus and later boogie down to the mat to James Brown's "Living in America" with dancing showgirls, only to have Sadz smoke him. Because then Brooks would have to train in the snow with primitive farm equipment next year to avenge Taylor's loss. I've seen Rocky IV enough times to know how it goes.

Putin does not approve of this scenario.

Iran and Russia are FS teams are also participating in this duel meet.  Iran sending its A team, minus the injured (Hassan Yazdani and Azarpira will be absent).  It's interesting that Ghassempour will wrestle at 86 Kg

Vlasov, Emelin, and Evloev are all probably gone. The only name left is Semenov and he has trouble with his weight and motivation. Greco sub 80ish kg is such a meat grinder. Just one cycle can finish a great wrestler.

Maybe they have a young star or even better in the pipeline, but I'm doubtful.

Russian Greco doesn't have the reservoir of their FS system.

Also interesting is that Sadulaev is listed at 92 KG on the poster.  Is there an allowance?

I am not aware of any weight allowance, but that is the weight that Sadulaev is wrestling at the world championship

Looks like its a different guy with the same ( or similar) surname

If you Google it with UWW it still pops up Tank Sadulaev.

He would have to have never wrestled an international match to not pop up.

Possible, I suppose.

For what it's worth, the Iranian media have not listed anyone by name of Saulaev yet

But, if you go along w/ that Rocky movie scenario, doesn't DT dies and Sad (Playing the part of Ivan Drago to a "T")

would go:

With one week to go, Albania still has not issued visas to the Iranian delegation.

it seems to me, the should require the host country to agree to issue visas to all the participants, before granting hosting of the world championship.

iran does not get to host another wild chmpionship because they refuse to issue visa to the Israelis.  I agree with that.  Similarly , Albania should not be the hot unless they Guarantee to issue visas to all participants

Yea I don't think Iran gets Albanian visas this time either.

Bullshit call from UWW to allow Albania to host 2 World championships when they have a track record of visa refusal to a core wrestling country.

Last year, they stripped Poland and Finland their age level championship because of Russia stuff, and yet Albania keeps doing this.

It is hard to disagree with this.

Even taking the current dumpster fire that is the Middle East in to account.

The UWW should look further away from these 'hot' zones for host sites.  Finland and Poland both lost age level stuff last year because of proximity and not because of discrimination.  Both should be considered if they're going to do that, not just one.

On the other side of it, I also think having U17s in Jordan this year was potentially dangerous.  It ended up not being dangerous, but if you move from Finland and Poland, you have to move from Jordan (where Israel has shot missiles through to get to Yemen recently).

On yet another side of it, if you were to make sure the proximity of the competitions were in a location that were a certain distance from active warfare, you're only able to hold any competition in Iceland - ever... maybe Hawaii or New Zealand (are the Aussies still fighting those damn Emus?!).
