It used to be that the fate of all crypto enthusiasts was to get their money stole. Trump is here to help.

No easier mark then a particular strand of crypto bro.

There are two main ways to view crypto. One is that is a revolutionary technology that will transform everything and change the way we live. In this view, regulators should do everything in their power to promote crypto and provide for a stable environment for its growth. The other view is that crypto is a mostly just a way to scam people. In this view, regulators should crack down mercilessly to prevent scams.

Which do we think this is? Which does Donald Trump think this is? Does Donald Trump even know what this is?

Before you answer any of those questions maybe it is best to know who the players are. First there is Donald Trump, who has denounced Bitcoin as a scam. Of course, if you are running a scam, doing it from the presidency may have some advantages. Then there is the "DeFi Visionary", Baron Trump. We all know about his business acumen. Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. will fill the roles of "web3 ambassadors". Then there are the two crypto entrepreneurs, Chase Herro and Zachary Folkman. They were behind a similar project called Dough Finance.

Now what do you think? Transformative? Or scam?

But wait, there is more. Herro describes himself as "the dirtbag of the internet" and Folkman used to run a service to teach men how to seduce women.

Now what do you think?

Oops, hold that thought.

Let's talk about Dough Finance for a second. Never heard of it? Yeah, that is because it no longer exists. It no longer exists because it got "hacked" and all the money was stolen. But why did I put hacked in quotation marks, you might reasonably ask. Because it has long been believed that many/most crypto "hacks" were actually performed by insiders. The founder takes the money and then says, "gee, I am real sorry, but we got hacked. whadda ya gonna do? We will learn from this hack, and our next project will be super duper. And make no mistake, there will be a next project. While we are getting that going make sure to save your money so you can get in on the ground floor."

Still deciding? The transform thing? Or the scam thing?

Two questions:

1) what bourbon were you drinking when you typed this?

2) when filling out a balance sheet does one put crypto as an asset or liability?

Trump is Bernie Madoff for dingbats.

Protect yourselves.

I don't know about that but have you purchased your sneakers and watch?  They are selling like hotcakes.  You are gonna feel pretty silly at the inauguration if you aren't wearing gold sneakers and a Trump watch.
