Good point - and not only Cael but the other NLWC coaches; Cody Sanderson, Casey Cunningham, Jake Varner, Mark McKnight, and Nick Lee.

They're all failures as coaches - and BTW they were only mediocre at best when they were competing (in both folk and freestyle).  Somebody needs to clean house!

But Varner should have won the Hodge 🙂 Time to break up the NLWC. Taylor was first defector. I bet several more retire or go their own ways after the Olympics. It will only be Cael, Cody, Casey and Varner left.

Touché. Apparently I'm more in my fee-fees than I realized with how MFS is turning out.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

As bummed as I am to see Lee and Brooks not take gold, the following positive thought washed over me after seeing each's loss:

At least this means they won't be one-quad-and-done.

Olympic Gold is the pinnacle of the sport, and it's tempting to rest on your laurels when you win it.  Some, like JB, Kyle and Taylor, come back for more.  Others, like Cael, Cejudo and Gable (both of 'em), are satisfied, and hang it up.  As Taylor recently admitted, it is really hard to keep yourself motivated after achieving his lifelong goal.

But what you pretty much NEVER see is someone as young as Lee and Brooks hang it up after earning an Olympic medal but not a gold one.  Usually it just makes them hungrier.

Here's to hoping that getting a taste their goal, but falling slightly short, means we get to see another 4 more years (at least) of them working to get even better and mowing over their international competition.

That's all good in theory but the problem is Lee's knees, who knows if they last for another cycle.  Unfortunately this could have been his best chance at an Olympic Gold

Imagine what it’s like for those in the IOWA forum. The disappointment has to be on the same level as the NCAA semis all over again.

It’s a genuine sediment Phillips. I bet behind your back your children think you’re the clown. Deep down inside you failed somewhere in life, huh - so you’re stuck here bullying people you don’t even know. Care you share where you went wrong in life punk?

Think Lopez. See you again in 4 years Spencer, and not a moment sooner.

Yaz trying to wrestle with one arm. This will be gutsy if he can win an olympic champion with one arm.

Can Yaz win one handed?

Almost had the takedown there. I wonder if he is able to continue here.
