Reporting on a crime does not demonstrate under-reporting of crime.

That’s a stupid remark.  Do you think reporting through media is equivalent to making a police report?  Or are you trying to be clever?

Your inability to understand (repeatedly) does not make the comment stupid. I will use more words so hopefully you will understand. This report about a crime does not demonstrate that crimes are not being reported to the authorities. Nowhere in the article is there a claim that this crime was not reported to the police. The article is mute on the point. The only claim Newsom made in this dubious story is that a retail clerk failed to stop a crime. He fails to point out he did nothing to stop the crime either. More likely is this is something he made up to make a point. Either way it still does not prove, or even attempt to prove, the negative.

You should probably stop talking.

If the “evidence” he provides is not evidence for the point he’s trying to make (see Gavin Newsome post above), he should stop trying to make it something it’s not.

Common sense isn’t necessarily ubiquitous.  I had to laugh at the remark to a “13 hours ago” quote to “stop talking.”

My daughter works at Walgreens.   They cannot stop shoplifters even when they see them.   The most they can do is call the Sheriff or Police and have a no trespassing citation against the perp.   If they see them in the store again, they call the police again and the guys gets escorted out if he/she hasn't left already.

Otherwise, they do not report any shoplifting crimes.   They cannot stop shoplifting crimes as that is against company policy.   The perps know where they stand.   Shoplift and go.   No problem.   It is the way it is in countless communities.

Retail crime alone proves it’s not being reported.  There are videos of crimes all over the country that aren’t being reported as nothing will be done about it.

Businesses are going under because crime is down.  When private property is not protected and taking it at will is not a crime then businesses go under BECAUSE “crime” is down.
