I believe Flo also listed him as 18 at WNO.  So Rudis is lying about his birthday?

Probably just a mistake. Not like his birthday really matters for a shoe/apparel sponsorship

His birthday, per the rudis website, is 01/05/07. That would make him 19 when he graduates in 2026. I swear yall go out of your way to talk shit about things that are NOT that big of a deal. Maybe he was held back for wreslting. maybe he was held back for academic reasons. Maybe he was held back becuase he wasn't as mature as his peers. Who cares? It isnt any of yours or my business WHY he was held back.

the only way this would matter (I don't care how old he is he would be beating most of the d1 guys now anyway) is that if he's an 06 (im pretty positive that he is) he will not be eligible to compete in the post season for McCort next year. I believe  if you turn 20 during the season you are ineligible to compete in the post season.

Normally that is the case. They did pass a law in Pa. making an exception for those who chose to repeat the year during Covid. So 20 is allowed.

Bassett is currently 18 according to UWW

https://uww.org/athletes/bassett-bowen-william

That means he could not be a '07 and has to be a '06. Jax's 18th birthday was last Sunday but you don't see people complaining about his age ever. I think they are both strange cases of guys who shouldn't be holdbacks, they are both ready for the NCAA level right now and if I were them I would reclass and enroll early but I understand why they are not.

If UWW has him as 18, it means he turns 18 in 2024.  He could still be 17, but he will definitely be 18 by 1/31/24.

it is a BIG deal

1st and foremost a 14/15 yr old freshman has no business competing vs a 20 yr old in a HS event

2nd if he was left back Soley for athletics, while i know it's done - it just not right - it's actually sad

plenty of HS seniors are 17

3rd - mature as his peers- he gets up at at 5 am for workouts, manages his enormous social media platform

4th if for academics that is the only acceptable reason / i have my doubts

Umm...NO it isn't!

My kid will be 19 when he is a senior in high school...never held back for any reason.  Not to mention Bo will not be 20 wrestling 14/15 year old freshmen...unless they enter a collage open like he has and does...and the irony is that Bo in high school is wrestling against college and Sr. level guys...and winning, yet you are trying to delegitimize the kid...classy.

Did Bo steal your girlfriend or something?  Beat your kid?

I sure hope he isn't.  What a great opportunity and experience as a high school kid...be really sad if he missed it.

never mentioned single word about any of his accolades/ wins or loses not that he has many

nor delegitimized his wrestling ability- its off the charts

just gave my opinion on kids being held back Soley for sports

along with 20 year olds competing in HS events

as it was posted pa passed rule allowing 20  yr olds to compete due to covid if they chose to repeat a grade

why statement on 17 year old seniors is factual

Most high school seniors in the United States are typically 17 or 18 years old12. This is based on the assumption that a student begins kindergarten at the age of 5 or 6 and progresses through 12 years of basic education.

You said he wouldn't be wrestling 14 and 15 year-old kids. If he's competing in the PA state tourney, then he is.

I believe that bassett will turn 18 this year and thus be an 18 year old junior this year. He will turn 19 next year and be a 19 year old senior, not a 20 year old. This is really not that uncommon at all.

BigBrog said Basset won't be wrestling high school freshmen because he'll be competing in college opens. If he's wrestling in the high school state tournament, then that's not true.

I'm not sure what your post is responding to.

If the age date s true posted by his mom online he will be 20 and can’t compete in HS State Tournaments.

is his dad still suspended for violations from coaching HS

He is 17 and will be turning 18 this year. He will be 18 / 19 as a senior in HS. Not 20.

From the googlewebs

"Bo Bassett is 17 years old, having been born on March 16, 2006 in State College, Pennsylvania. He is a wrestler at Bishop McCort Catholic High School in Pennsylvania and a member of the Young Guns Wrestling Club"

Last years state tournament was March 7th weekend...thus, he will be 19 is senior year during the state tournament unless they move the date by over a week.

As someone who has moved around the country, I've noticed schools and regions all have different rules for birthday cutoffs and suggested starting time for kinder

I get that but I have two kids with summer birthdays that I started kindergarten one year late for.  Both will still be 18 when they graduate, so I don’t see how 19 is possible without a holdback or late start to K.

Turned 18 in August.  He will be 19 for the entirety of the school year next year and 20 before starting Fall semester wherever he attends college.

Yep, so he won't be a 20 year old wrestling in high school.
