Is "Valencia Gom A." up at 86kg Anthony Valencia?  Can't tell with the beard...

Yes, it's him.  He looks bad so far after being down 8-0 ... but rallies with a pin.

Dylan Palacio (now of Uruguay and former folkstyle wrestler) looked terrible at 74 KG.  He lost 12-2 to a guy from Brazil.  He didn't do much and kind of appeared lost on the mat.

RBY took care of business quickly in his first match.

The big upcoming match in the quarters is Nick Lee vs. Austin Gomez.  Winner goes to semis and very likely the finals for an Olympic berth.

Lee wrestled Gomez at Worlds last year and pinned him after leading ... something like 7-3 but Gomez was and is dangerous.   Lee can go upper body however and has some length on Gomez, which helps.  Below is a link to their match at Worlds if you can access it:

Alvan from Brazil is a Brazilian-American who wrestles for Columbia (the Ivy, not the country.) NCAA qualifier.

I believe he trains at same club as Chamizo etc.

Ach!.  Gomez makes a big comeback and wins 22-12. Nick uncharacteristically faded bad.

Looks like 65KG will not be qualified here for the US.  One last chance at the Last Chance.

Disappointing.

Gomez broke Lee. Incredibly disappointing that USA will likely not qualify 65kg again for the Olympics.

Very surprising after Lee took him down and laced him to go up 16-12 or whatever, then Gomez looked to be injured. Thought it was over for him, then he absolutely wrecked him.

Part of me thinks Gomez needed a breather and faked injury.  I need to watch the replay.
