Everyone loves some trivia! To give this board a little different topic of discussion I'll post a new trivia question every day in this thread.

The most matches won in a single NCAA tournament is 8. Name the wrestlers who have done this.

I'll go with JD Bergman as a guess, pretty sure he lost his first match and won back.

Maybe you need a pigtail, but it's my best guess

Not quite. He has tournaments of 1, 4, 6, & 7 wins.

If I get another guess the 84 pounder for Illinois a # of years back, Parker maybe?  Think he lost in the first and battled back.

AJ Schopp would be another guess. I think I remember both those guys losing early and coming back for third. Not sure if either had a pigtail match.

Matt Pell and R Elam Mizzou?

Pell got to 6. Rocky has had 5, 5, & 6.

Just based on  bracket math - even if you lose in the first round and come back  for third place, isn't that only seven wins?  So you'd need to be in the pigtail round also

Quisel of Boise St. in '99?

That's 1! He was the 4 seed and lost to Corey Wallman (Wisconsin) in the first round. He came back to place 3rd with 8 straight wins including a consi pigtail. He beat the 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 seeds along the way.

Yes, Quisel.

And Eric Voelker in 1988 Iowa St 190

That would be the other one. Figured you'd have the answers.

18 have wrestled 9. 8-1, 7-2, 6-3 records among them.

The record has to be well over 9.  Four tournaments?

He was the 4 seed and also beat the 4 seed?  Self pin?

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

I self pinned once in my life, and it took me until the moment of not getting my hand raised to realize what happened.  Spladle gone wrong

For current wrestlers, Dustin Plott has 17 NCAA matches wrestled and has two tournaments left to go.  Lucas Byrd has 20 with two tournaments left to go.

Well they are not yet winners.  I'm looking for someone that beats 28 or identify the 28.

A single tournament. Didn't realize you meant 4 (now 5). I'll have to look.

They have. Myles Amine has 30 (5-1, 5-1, 5-2, 4-1, 5-1) in 5.
