Congrats to our first day medal winners and Champ Jason Nolf. Also I am sure all our competitors had a positive learning experience from this tournament. Hopefully day 2 is even better.

Today has been interesting thus far.

97 KG Schultz beat 79 KG Lujan at 92 KG via 12-4 Decision

Both Schultz and Jackson won their pools and sit in the '1' spot for the semi-finals.  Both will at the very least wrestle for a medal.

Snyderman is on his way to a collision course with Ghasempour still... although Ghas has had more difficult match(es).

125 KG has set itself up perfectly with Geno - Zare up top and Parris - Masoumi down low in the Semi-finals.  Zare once again destroyed Gwiazdowski.

79 KG, Wick didn't put on the same sort of performance as his 4-4 criteria loss at the BF and lost 11-0 to Kentchadze.  He now gets Nokhodi of Iran in the Semi-finals and at the very least will wrestle for Bronze.

If not they are up on Mat B next.

Parris - Masoumi is in two on Mat C.

Snyder - Ghasempour is in three on Mat C.

Jackson is in six on Mat C.

Schultz is in four on Mat B.

Wick is in three on Mat B against Nokhodi.

We have yet to see Parris against a giant like Masoumi.  Geno was big, but he doesn't wrestle long.

Masoumi dwarfs him.

Masoumi picks him up and pushes him out.  2M42S to go in the first, Masoumi up 1-0.

Takedown Parris. 2M47S left... was pretty vulnerable there to get thrown to his back.  2-1 Parris.

Masoumi picks him up with an underhook again and pushes him out.  2-2, Parris up on criteria 2M to go in the first.

Parris in with a takedown again, but Masoumi turks him over and both get two.  4-4 Parris on criteria.  1M40S to go.

Pushout Masoumi again.. .same thing... 5-4 Masoumi 1M37S to go in the first.

Another pushout by Masoumi.   Parris has no answer to that.  They are reviewing it... maybe calling a C1 on Parris?  Not sure.  It was called grounded at first, I thought.  1M12S in the first to go.  5-4 as it is.

It was called a C1.  Parris is down.

Masoumi is so long, Parris can't get any of his offense going at all.  Can't get inside for that high crotch.  Can't use his strength at all.  It's impressive that Zare holds Masoumi off.

For all the slack Masoumi has gotten (even from me) for being a turd, he is showing nothing but class here.

Single attempt by Parris stuffed.  2M46S to go.  Underhook to push out and Parris drops and attempts to turn the corner... no points.

2M22S to go.  8-4 still.

Actually Parris looks more gassed here.  Another shot.  Masoumi flattens him out.  1M28S to go.  8-4 Masoumi still.
