Simply need to be a national of the country being represented by the respective NOC (National Olympic Committee). Those who have multiple nationality have the option to chose which NOC they will represent. If an athlete that has previously competed in continental, regional, or world events decides to change countries, they must wait three years before representing the new country in such an event.
