The Mormons first called the new/supposedly restored church  "Church of Christ". Then after they found that was the name of another group they changed it to "The Church of the Latter Day Saints". Then a few years later Jesus told Joseph Smith the name was to be "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". Then a couple decades later Brigham Young decided Jesus did not understand English properly and the name was changed to "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints".

But, you will notice how important capitalizing "The" is for them. Did they beat Ohio State University to that one?
