If Spencer Lee didn’t wrestle through torn ACLs for the past five years and took the time to heal, is he going to Belgrade?

A good intended point but torn ACL's do not heal.

Jordan Burroughs and Ronald Acuna seem to be ok.

You don't need an acl, many do without, prob will have arthritis sooner.  But an acl does not heal, once is torn etc its done but some can strengthen other muscles to compensate.

It seems like you're trying to play a semantic game, but I don't think you understand what the word heal means. The word you are thinking of is regenerate. Obviously, the human body does not regenerate a new ACL once it is torn, but many athletes have shown that you can heal from a torn ACL through reconstructive surgery and physical therapy to strengthen the surrounding muscles.

I don't disagree but maybe Spencer's knee's aren't the many you describe?

They never gave him time to heal. Every single year it was get him onto the mat by NCAAs, and sometimes it was having him wrestle despite having torn ACLs. It was the single worst mismanagement of a college wrestler’s health that I’ve seen, and as a fan of his, it has been sad to see. You’re right though that now it may be too late. I hope not, but he may never be the athlete he could have been had things been handled differently.

Been thru it 3x, completed the athletic activity i was involve in each time, swollen next day could barely walk (had no choice 3rd time) by ~2 weeks was pretty much back to doing normal things.  I always waited till Nov (it was ~6 mo each time) to have replacement surgery so could keep doing outdoor athletic activities till winter.  You don't "heal" after surgery, you recover and rehab.  Pretty sure Spencer didn't have ACL replacement after first two, I heard he wrestled without didn't have replacement till before his last year.  Thus his did not "heal."   Each can be different but strength wise replacement and knee can be 100% by 6 mo out its just you may not feel like you can do 100% of what you want till a year out.  But then some don't go that well.

Maybe it was something completely different than the same old theory that the Brands were at fault. Maybe they get credit for 3x titles for a recruit that arrived with more issues than they bargained for?
