Kerk has 2 absolute dog fights coming up tonight and tomorrow why risk tweaking something shooting under a 280 pound guy when he can just get his points and ride, he can ride the guy til he dies of starvation if he wants why do anything else?

I understand. Kerk did what he had to do. I'd rather Jacob Warner win by stall ride than lose by last second takedown but... That doesn't mean I'm going to be stoked watching it

Agreed.

Although given that they are heavyweights, time will probably expire before they die of starvation.

Should be involved in a 9th place tourney if memory serves.

All wrestlers do? I can't remember how it works either. Or if you go 0-2 you are done

Not speaking with a tremendous amount of certainty but I believe all weights where there are more than 8 spots available there is a "9th place" tournament which is reseeded among the 6 guys that are not in the top 8.  This should happen for Burwick, Morton and Emerson.   It is not a part of the team scoring.

I also believe the typically have one of these when only 8 spots are allocated as well.  I think that one potential criteria for getting a wild card is finishing one place below the automatic allocation.  Wilson could be involved in such a scenario if he loses in this next session.

No, not a soccer guy.  Just think a bunch of old fat dudes who never even placed at state are a little ridiculous when complaining about tactics that high level wrestlers use to conserve energy at a multi day high level tournament

You must be fun to watch any sport with.  "Just sit there quietly and don't comment on anything.  Only high level athletes can comment on anything that's happening!"

Selection criteria for an at-large includes 'next man up' in it.

Meaning if your conference had 8 allocations and you were the 9th or if it had 10 allocations and you were the 11th or 5 allocations and you were the 6th, etc.

Meaning whatever your conference has for allocations, they must place at least one (1) spot higher.

If 13e has 9 allocations then they will at least place to 10th.

Ok. But how many wrestle in the pig tails. Use 149 for example

So Like you are saying for 133. How many guys wrestle for that spot. All the guys or a select few?

All six (6) guys remaining will be drawn in to a 6 (8) man bracket with the two highest remaining seeds getting first round byes.

And they all wrestle for 1 spot?

Think of it as a winner takes all.  1st of that bracket would be the 9th placer.

If the weight allocated 9, then they will have a 'true 3rd(10th) match from that bracket's 2nd(10th) and 3rd(11th) so long as the 2nd(10th) and the 3rd(11th) did not face each other in that specific '9th place' bracket.

There are already some answers to the ILLINI Wrestling Blog and Forum and Beyond Prop Bet Contest. Here ya go:

  1. Spencer Lee will get a first-period pinfall in his first match at the 2023 B1G tournament (No)
  2. Carter Starocci will not give up a point in his first two matches during the 2023 B1G tournament (No)
  3. Maryland will have two or more semi-finalists at the 2023 B1G tournament (No)
  4. The last match of the 2023 B1G tournament will involve Yianni Diakomihalis (No)

Plenty of TBD prop bets left. Good luck!

As for the ILLINI barf. Thicc Zac was great. He wears folks out. Lucas Byrd's ref gets special mention for allowing Nagao to take zero attacks during the match AND spend a cumulative 2:00 with a front headlock on Byrd.

Special guest referee? Comes down to interfere via a chair shot? Escorts Kerk/Cass to the mat with a megaphone spouting how the opponent has no nuts?Hiding under the ring to make his appearance as Mason Parris’ long, lost, thought-to-be-dead, brother!?

I think we should wait to see how this plays out. 🤞🤞
