Its what id like to think. He likes Greco. Hes always taking heat for his takes. But if he lists awesome matches what can anyone say?

It's possible that what LJB thinks is a great match, a beginner greco enthusiast might think is boring.  I follow baseball pretty closely.  I can find a 1-0 game very exciting.  A lot of people would like to see more runs.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

He is more of an asatruar.

An Asatruar is an adherent of Ásatrú (also spelled Asatru), a modern reconstructionist and revivalist pagan religion rooted in pre-Christian Norse and Germanic traditions.

Thats all fine and good to me. If he can explain what he thinks it showcases I personally will watch it with an open mind, I cant speak for anyone else.

I don't know if this is necessarily a good greco match in the terms you're looking for but it's an absolute classic.

I almost made a post earlier about how some historic matches that have a very cool story are just plain boring. And I was going to give this as an example and Kurt Angles gold medal win.

I will rewatch it because its been years but I remember it being very boring and then Rulon wins because Karelins grip breaks in OT. So anticlimactic especially for such a special moment.

Ive been busy cutting fire wood and doing other chores so im behind but as I watch the suggested matches I will try to say something about them.

Not Greco but may be my favorite match of all-time.  Aside from this match, I don't recall ever shedding a tear over a match that didn't involve my son.  Didn't want to start a new topic.  Figured we're looking at matches, this is as good a place as any.

This may be the best match ever wrestled, any style .

They wrestled like the loser was going to executed. And the woman in the stands was screaming like it as well.

Insane throws, vicious arm drags, awesome ending.

10/10 match

It appears to be 1994 during a dual meet between Russia and the World Team.  I'm not 100% sure but that's what it looks like to me.

I think this was 1995 European Championships

I just looked at the results from the 1995 European Championships and Yildiz was not in the field.

Correct, sir!

That specific match footage is from the 1994 Greco-Roman European Wrestling Championships held in Athens, Greece.

While it effectively functioned as a dual-style matchup between the top stars of Russia (Sergey Martynov) and Germany (Rifat Yildiz), it was an individual match within the European Championship tournament framework rather than a part of that year's official World Cup dual meet series.

I liked watching Lester.

Harry Lester was fun to watch.  I rather enjoyed Jake Dietchler beating him at the 2008 Olympic Trials though.  Jake helped coach my son for a bit and what happended to his career really sucked.  He was so fun to watch in High School and beyond.  Watched him just brutalize a defending State Champion.  Swore he was going to rip his arm off.

When I think of great Greco matches, I think of Karam Gaber's run at the 2004 Olympics.  Someone really should work up a highlight reel, as I couldn't find much online, but here's his semi:

On the USA front, the most watchable Greco wrestler of the past 15-20 years has to be G'Angelo Hancock. I feel like it was a real blow to Greco when he walked away from the sport, as a lot of casual wrestling fans would go to a Greco event just to see him, and stay to watch the others.
