having dealt with USAW pretty closely for over a decade, I can 100% lay some blame on them…

but it is mostly an entire wrestling culture in this country that actively works against Greco that is the main issue…

This ignorance on regular display on this silly forum is a microcosm of a much bigger problem that includes those who are actually involved with wrestling that push wrestlers away from Greco…

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Timeless.

Geometric logic.  But they just couldn't understand.

Meanwhile... Merrill gets pulled back into repechage, thanks to the Georgian's TF of the Hungarian in the 125Kg SF match.

480p? Damn. I've been presenting at a conference so haven't been able to watch live, was the stream in this low of quality as well?

That’s the best I got…was seamless on my phone and pretty clear.

Meanwhile... Womens 53KG gold went to USA's  RODRIGUEZ over Turkiye's Cayir by a 4 point throw to a fall.

Spectacular!

Russia being down and Cuba running out of money for sure helps. I've been wondering if eventually Russian Greco will slowly morph into the Dagestan+Ossetia  B/C team. I hope not, but signs do point that way. Russia placed 3rd with just one champion. They had no champions at senior worlds last year (well unless you count Komarov).

I think China is trying to make a serious push into greco. It's smart. Of all olympic medals to be won in grapplings, I'd say greco has the most opportunity for an ambitious nation to dominate. You don't have to deal with wrestling obsessed American and Dagestan rivals. I think Lopez and that cuban coach were over there recently. image.thumb.png.699dd03669b6204c72e34d820c1e3fa5.png

There are also Iranian coaches in China from what I've seen. They can definitely grow and develop decent guys but greco internationally has a lot of parity at the lighter weights which is where I would imagine the bulk of their talent would be concentrated at. If they can develop strong heavy weight wrestlers then maybe but it will be hard to even be top 3 in Asia let alone top 3 globally in greco without a strong wrestling team across 10 weights. I feel like people don't realise how competitive greco is. In Asia alone there is Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Japan who will always send strong teams. Recently India has started to send decent guys and both Koreas historically have strong light weights. This isn't even including Iran. At worlds and olympics you have Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Hungary and Turkey alongside all of these countries. The infrastructure, coaching and talent development required to bring China from a potential medal contender at a couple weight classes to a superpower is not worth the investment for them. It is more likely in women's wrestling for them to become as good as Japan then to be competitive with Iran for example across 10 weights in greco.

Davino looks fantastic!  Great defense, super quick, and if I’m not mistaken, he finished every takedown when he got to a leg.  Varied finishes too.  Fun to watch!

He looked great in every position. Busy, in shape, constant motion, great finishes, cool and collected. I was most impressed with him on the day.

Ryan has put a lot of praise on the Brown Bros. Excited to see them wrestle. Hopefully Karson gets that first rd. win against Sandu, who was 12th at Euro '26' and 15th at U23's '25.'

I found the Iranian’s lack of urgency, down 7-1 with a lot of time left, interesting.  Didn’t look particularly gassed but maybe he was.

That down block to a Russian to a fireman’s that he hit was textbook.
