I can't believe someone would compare this situation to abortion...yikes

You can’t see the irony that the pro life party is live-streaming an execution gleefully?

Trying to put abortion and the death penalty on a comparable plane is beyond stupid.

To answer the question, no I don’t think they should live steam it. Public execution isn’t our vibe.

How is it not comparable? You have conservatives screaming in their own words “ you can’t kill babies” and saying they  are pro life yet are ok with the government killing people

Some are even OK with killing Palestinian babies “so they don’t grow up to be terrorists”

the fort hood shooter’s execution is going to be live streamed. I am very curious what our resident pro life conservatives on here have to say about this, and am curious on others thoughts about live streaming an execution. I’m sure this is going to bring up a lot of controversy and opinions globally.

This is a really horrible idea. I am not sure what the benefit would be. I don't support the execution or live streaming it.

Example A:  An infant’s life is ended, without having the ability to experience life outside the womb or make any decisions for themselves, based on the decision of one maybe two people.

Example B: A murder is committed. An investigation ensues.  The investigation leads to an arrest.  A trial ensues, where the arrested is able to see all the evidence against them, is able to defend him/herself against all accusers and argue all evidence.  A public jury rules them guilty.  Years of appeals of the case automatically ensue next.  After those are all exhausted, the ten + year process culminates in the carrying out of the judicial ruling.

If you’re trying to argue those two scenarios are comparable, it has nothing to do with stance on abortion or death penalty, it also has nothing to do with reason or logic.  It’s simply someone starting a thread so they can bitch about people who believe something different.

The only countries that are currently reported to hold public executions are Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Afghanistan.

I started this thread to get conservatives opinions on why they consider themselves pro life, yet support the death penalty as they are direct contradictions to each other. Turns out people’s moral and views are very flimsy and are pro death when it is justified in their book.

Executing the shooter is prolife in protecting the innocent. I’m pro-life and don’t care if it’s streamed or not; livestreaming is not a prolife question. I hope the impact to the curious and the psychopath that watch this is worth the message that America is back.

I have a problem with the cost of delaying the execution this long...

I don’t hate the death penalty especially in this case.

I disagree with live-streaming it though.

People ask how you can support capital punishment and oppose abortion. Pro-life is about protecting the innocent. I think a human has rights from the moment their *life begins, and ending that life on purpose is wrong. A murderer has already killed an innocent person and, by doing that, forfeits the same protection. The pro-life point of the penalty is to keep them from killing again.

*To me, life begins at conception... To others, at birth or somewhere in between.  This 'life begins' is off topic from understanding 'pro life' and not necessary to discuss here.

If it’s to complicated for you to understand, you might try something like checkers, tiddlywinks.

The brain dead ones on here can’t distinguish the difference between taking an innocent life and taking the life of someone that’s guilty of murder.

Fair opinion, yet unrelated to the explanation given for why it is reasonable and pro-life to oppose abortion for the innocent while supporting capital punishment for the guilty.  There are no gotchas and no hypocrisy.

Are 8 year olds in Gaza innocent?

On the pro choice side, I assume most folks don't see a fetus as a human with rights. So abortion is the mother's decision to make. And many believe actual people have the right to not be executed, even if they've killed someone.  From that view, they are not ending the life of anyone who has rights.

Pro choice and Pro life are rational opinions if you understand the underlying core belief.

I accept that others don’t believe a fetus has human rights, or that even if it does, the mother’s rights come first. That doesn’t make them a psychopath for holding a pro-choice view. And I’m not anti-woman for believing the fetus has a right to life except when continuing the pregnancy would end the mother’s life.
