I think CP does well for a guy who didn’t compete in the sport at a high level. Not many guys can talk the talk who didn’t live that life.

Fairly knowledgeable and definitely tries to be professional. I have no issue with him bringing his kid on, Caleb loves wrestling and you can tell it’s his life.

He for sure withholds some info or criticism of certain guys/teams because he doesn’t want to shake the apple cart. My biggest issue with him is he ball washes PSU, OK St, Iowa, etc… but can you really blame him? It’s a 3 horse sport and they are probably the ones paying the bills.

OK St ball washing started with David Taylor’s hiring too. I have a few posts from the Smith era that captured my “wow we did well and Flo doesn’t care” feelings lol

So they go with the trends. So what. If you don’t like it don’t watch/listen. I use Flo for watching matches and rarely come across Christian Pyles.

Let me try to explain again. WILLIE SAYLOR started all of this, he was the pioneer of what you see today. Sure, FLO has added a lot more to the platform, and CP ABSOLUTELY FELL into where he is today.  And, listen, he has blocked several people on social media, so criticism must bother him some. Keep your opinion, it is your right. For all the reasons you don't like Willie, I love him for it.  He owns it, and he doesn't apologize for it.  I say this all the time, If I played in the NFL, I would want to play for a coach that played in the NFL. Why? He would understand what I am going through and coach me accordingly. That is just me, and how I feel. It is hard for me to watch someone that has never been there and done that. Is that fair? it some people's eyes, they do not give a shit, and that is fine too. I also disagree on the info. You brought up Tony Kornheiser and Mile Wilburn (they suck too BTW) their station breaks news all the time, correct? Why shouldn't Flo be the leader in that? I mean you pay enough GD money for it.  Anyway, I digress, enjoy your day.

I just want to reiterate how god-awful Pardon The Interruption is, especially because of the two they have hosting it. Amazes me that so many people tune into so much trash, especially specifically surrounding sports/entertainment, just because it’s the flavor chosen for them. I guess this sentiment rings true for CP for many people here, however.

So they go with the trends. So what. FRL is not mandatory. I use Flo for watching matches and rarely come across Christian Pyles. To his credit he at least tries to bridge the gap for newbies

Same, I very rarely tune in for any Flo videos that aren’t one of their 15 min recaps of an event or something. Anything else is watching wrestling, in which case I actually don’t need any announcers (they sometimes have some ref info that helps, but in general I’m fine to navigate myself). I’ve done an FRL or 2 and they aren’t really my thing. I def catch a bunch of the vibe that others do with CP, I get it, but it doesn’t cross my path much if ever, so I don’t have too much to say.

I certainly think there’s room for Flo to be doing better, put out a better and more polished product, and really hammer themselves as THE place for wrestling info of all kinds, but they don’t seem to want to strive for that and are pretty happy pushing out the same kind of content they have been for years; with their documentaries and then just whatever is conjured up by the handful of guys involved with the material. It definitely comes across as having a bit of a larger reach than what they are attempting to cater to, but it’s up to them if they want to try to become a more rigid thing or stick to being playful and having it be closer to a homemade podcast type deal than a large sports info company or what have you

I've been with Flo from the beginning, before there was even FRL.  I have little respect for CP, dude just rubs me wrong, something about his "attitude".  Through the years I feel he just has become more arrogant and sometimes it's hard for me to listen to him.  I like the rest of the guys but I don't know why they all act like his opinions mean more.  All in all, I can stomach his condesending ways but believe me, he cares about what people say about him (at least online).  I tweeted at him one time when the Snyder news broke and he immediately blocked me.  My main gripe is that he never wants to discuss anything controversial (like Snyder).  I understand he's in a difficult situation and he doesn't want to talk about negative situations within the sport but I feel he could at least just acknowledge the "news" and/or facts.  He just comes across as spineless in these cases.  Again, I know it's difficult situations but just give us the facts and call it good.

Willie is Willie, you love him or hate him I guess.  I personally enjoy his and Basch's podcast.

just thought i would give FRL a shout out for today...

they went through past Senior World teams and how the USA doing so well is a relatively recent phenomenon...

also a wink and a nod (say no more) to the serbian teams and their "weigh ins" from a few years ago...

Well put. They do sell an ESPN vibe and have several components that feel big league, but also several that are kinda wtf.

my only gripe with Flo is I wish they’d make it easier to find all the info needed to follow freestyle - schedule, brackets, upcoming matches, who’s competing. Just list the links. It is crazy to me that we have to come to forums to figure out wtf is going on for World Championships and the like. Doesn’t seem that hard to pull together the half dozen links the average watcher needs if you’re a wrestling media company that wants more subs.

I love wrestling but do not get the appeal of wrestling podcasts. Unless there’s a match breakdown and video to accompany it, it just comes across as dudes gossiping. Fun occasionally but I’d rather watch a match.

the organization that actually puts on worlds and other international events has all that information on their site...

it is easily accessible and has been for years...

this is not rocket science...

whining Flo does not spoon feed everyone in the exact manner they require (bib and all) seems silly to the point of absurd...

Agree with all of this. To add to the “just give us the links” idea, I also find some of their structure to be clunky. Like, I’d love to log in and be able to head to a U of M centric portion of the site so that I can look at info strictly about the school I cheer for - allow me to see the current and former recruiting classes, rankings for wrestlers, previous season match info, etc. It’s something that is a function on a ton of other sites like On3 and 247, but I’m not sure the infrastructure cost for upgrading/building something like that. It does seem like they are fairly content just doing what they are doing and not rocking the boat much, which I find to be a bummer, as I think a bit more concerted effort and hardly much more finances and I think they could improve dramatically in a few ways.

Yea, can you believe people expect the top media company in our sport to centralize info for the fans who pay for their site? Insane!!!

They push out the same product because they are THE monoply in wreslting coverage. Until someone comes along to challenge them, i.e.,  putting out different, better coverage. It won't ever change.

you would think in the last 15 years some nerd would have just done it better with all the experts out there...

turns out, it is waaaaaay easier to just bitch and moan than to actually do something...

maybe a shit ton more viewers is actually doing it better.   Who knows though

1. ESPN Networks (ESPN+ / ESPN Select)

Annual Viewers: 3.0 million to 3.5 million unique viewers

Market Share: ~55%

The Drivers: ESPN holds the exclusive broadcast rights to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, where the finals alone regularly draw over 1 million concurrent viewers on linear TV and streaming. Because ESPN+ has over 24 million general subscribers, millions of casual sports fans organically stream regular-season Big 12, ACC, and EIWA dual meets throughout the winter at no additional cost.

2. Big Ten Digital (B1G+ / Big Ten Network App)

Annual Viewers: 1.2 million to 1.5 million unique viewers

Market Share: ~22%

The Drivers: The Big Ten is the undisputed powerhouse conference of college wrestling, featuring massive fanbases for teams like Penn State and Iowa. While high-profile duals air on the linear Big Ten Network cable channel, hundreds of regular-season matches stream exclusively on B1G+, drawing a highly concentrated, massive audience of college wrestling die-hards between November and March.

3. FloWrestling

Annual Viewers: 1.0 million to 1.2 million unique viewers

Market Share: ~18%

The Drivers: While FloWrestling streams the highest volume of matches in the world (tens of thousands of bouts across youth, high school, and international freestyle), its audience is restricted by its steep $150/year paywall.

your AI slop is adorable and parrots out the type of slanted views of the nerd typing into it...

STEEP $150/YEAR PAYWALL!!!!

ESPN base streaming cost more and their all inclusive streaming considerably more, but, no shaming... weird...

big+ monthly costs more, but, no shaming...

plus, ESPN and big+ are pushing far more other sports coverage other than wrestling...

Flo's entire business is based on a niche' sport...

$150 a year for the crashiest service and the worst brackets x 2 on earth isn’t steep?

Flo has far less wrestling viewers than both of its biggest competitors and the FloSports franchise streams more than 25 distinct sports categories

Last I remember, BTN+ was $20.27 for the entire year when 15-20 of us signed up!

And has far better wrestling content …, and as if having “other” popular sports streaming options is a bad thing lol

What about their big streaming events ?  Where do those rank?   They  barely make the top 10 lol.   WTTs lost to the big 10 early rounds from a viewer perspective.

1. NCAA Division I Championship Finals (ESPN / ESPN+) – ~1,100,000 viewers

2. NCAA Division I Semifinals (ESPN / ESPN+) – ~750,000 viewers

3. Big 10 Championship Finals (FOX Sports App / BTN) – ~311,000 total viewers

4. Big 12 Conference Championship Finals (ESPN / ESPN+) – ~250,000 viewers

5. Oklahoma State vs. Iowa Dual Meet (ESPN / ESPN+) – ~180,000 viewers

6. Penn State vs. Iowa Dual Meet (B1G+) – ~160,000 viewers

7. NCAA Division I Medal Rounds (ESPN / ESPN+) – ~150,000 viewers

8. Penn State vs. Ohio State Dual Meet (B1G+) – ~110,000 viewers

9. US Marine Corps Junior & Cadet Nationals / "Fargo" (FloWrestling) – ~90,000 viewers

10. Iowa vs. Nebraska Dual Meet (B1G+) – ~85,000 viewers

11. Big 10 Championship Early Rounds (B1G+) – ~75,000 viewers

12. Super 32 Challenge (FloWrestling) – ~75,000 viewers

13. USA Wrestling Senior World Team Trials (FloWrestling) – ~65,000 viewers

14. Michigan vs. Ohio State Dual Meet (B1G+) – ~60,000 viewers

15. Who’s Number One / WNO Showcase (FloWrestling) – ~50,000 viewers

Which is why it is silly to compare Flo with the likes of ESPN…

they are not even in the same league…

as far as “crashiest service”, I would bet I watch considerably more wrestling on Flo than 99.9% of the anonymous nerds here snd abroad and it is amusing how few issues I ever have as compared to the whining that goes on across all platforms…

It is always the same kinds of people who have these problems…
