FBI Says Drone Attack Plot Against White House UFC Event Was Stopped

The FBI announced that multiple individuals were taken into custody after investigators uncovered an alleged plot involving explosive equipped drones targeting the UFC America 250 event planned for the White House grounds.

According to FBI Director Kash Patel, authorities became aware of the threat on June 10 and launched a multi state operation involving federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. Officials said the alleged attacks were stopped before they could be carried out.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the FBI stated it will continue providing updates as additional information becomes available.

Yes that was pretty cool the other night. Eagles are fascinating.

Driving just out of my neighborhood, saw two bald eagles flying together.   It was not a territorial issue, they were flying in unison.   It was pretty cool.

One time a bald eagle landed on my house and the swooped down the back yard.   I was out there and heard this noise and looked that there he went.   Very cool.

Japanese sports fans are not immune from bad behavior after a big win.  After the Hanshin Tigers won the 1985 Japan series in an upset, fans celebrated in the streets.  A group of fans stole a statue of Colonel Sanders from outside a KFC restaurant and threw it in the Dōtonbori River in Osaka.

Following their big win the Tigers had a turn in fortunes and were at or near the bottom of the standings for a few decades.  Eventually they would reach the Japan Series final in 2003 and 2005 losing both times.  These near victories were not without incident.  After winning the pennant in 2003 to reach the Japan Series fan celebrated in the streets and one fan died after being pushed into the canal and drowning in the celebration.

The prolonged string of failures gave rise to the myth that the Tigers were cursed - the Curse of the Colonel.  This is a similar myth to the Curse of the Bambino in American baseball.  The belief was that until the statue was returned the Tigers would not win another Japan series.  In 2009 divers recovered the statue from the river, but the Colonel was missing his glasses and a hand.  The Tigers reached the Japan Series in 2013, but fell short.  This lead fans to speculate that the hand and glasses needed to be recovered to really break the curse.  That never happened but a replacement hand and glasses were made and fitted to the statue.  In 2023 the Tigers won the Japan Series for the first time since the Colonel was thrown into the river in 1985 breaking the "curse."

Sports celebrations even in Japan can cause property damage and death.  I am sure whatever country wins this years world cup will experience large scale celebrations/riots with some amount of property damage, but hopefully no death.

Who died? There have been no reports of fatalities during the celebration/riot. 63 people were arrested so the police weren’t really held back from policing.

A 17 year old boy was shot.  Apologies

Police unions and Midtown merchants argue that 63 arrests was an embarrassment that sent a message of lawlessness. They point to video evidence of hundreds of people looting bodegas, smashing taxi windows, and dancing on burning buses who walked away completely untouched. They blame Mayor Mamdani’s strict de-escalation directives for tying the hands of officers on the ground.

Yeah NYC riots post Knicks win were worse, but the Hanshin Tigers celebrations also resulted in one death in 2003.

That earlier tweet you posted "Import the third world, become the third world." its kind of nonsense.  There were sports riots in this country for decades.  This isn't the result of recent immigration policies.  In Detroit after the 1990 NBA finals when 8 people were killed.  In Chicago after the Bulls won in 1991.  After the 1984 World Series win in Detroit.  Disco Demolition night in 1979 in Chicago.  Ten cent beer night in Cleveland in 1974.  It's a long list and this recent riot isn't near the top.

Globally some of the worst sports riots have been the result of football hooliganism in first world countries.  One of the most infamous incidents is the Heysel Stadium disaster in 1985.  This was a clash between Juventus (Italy) and Liverpool (England) fans in Belgium before a European Cup final match.  39 people were killed. The penalties were harsh and changes were made.

I don't know if the police were held back or not, but it's a tricky situation to get right.  When there are that many people celebrating it can turn to a riot/violence quickly.

My point exactly. You had to pay to do so... the WH claims it's a "gift" - but it's one we have to pay for.

Who gives anyone a "gift" and makes you pay their buddies for it? President Rump.

Didn’t have to pay for anything. I chose to pay for paramount long before the gift of a UFC on the white house lawn.   TDS is real.

So, you for (1) didn't pay because you were already a subscriber. That's cool.

That leaves the rest of the roughly 350 million US citizens. 349,999,999 more to account for if we do it your way.

Or - maybe - we just stop and think. And realize the majority of the US population doesn't subscribe to Paramount+.

The "gift" of the UFC was purely for President Rump's on his birthday. Arranged by himself for himself.

What followed was the "grift" of President Rump - as non-subscribers to his buddy billionaire Ellison's recently WH approved merger, had to pay to participate. (Even though the entire event was mostly paid for by US taxpayers to begin with.)

Just like the ballroom that was going to cost $400m and be paid by donors and not taxpayers. Now it'll be $1B and taxpayers will be paying $600m... and the costs are still rising.

And like the reflecting pool that would cost $1.3m - and then became $10m, then $15m, and now estimates are as high as $18m and rising... and guess what. Yes, it's still murky green algae in color. Not blue at all - a complete waste.

Trump claims to be a "builder" - but the truth is that he's really, really bad at it. Late and far over budget every time.

Are you and RV the same person?  Just because you want it to be true, so you can have something else to be butt hurt about, doesn't make it so. We get it, you hate Trump and he is the sole reason why you are a loser and drive a snowplow for a living.

Dana White said he wouldn't be putting on another White House event, because he can't afford to. The UFC ownership paid 100% of the cost of the event.

You are one dim bulb; I'll give you that.

Event location costs:

  • Let's say the event was held at MSG in NYC. What do you think that venue would cost to rent for multiple days?
Easily 100's of thousands per day plus all the costs - it is an exclusive location. For (3) days or so, it'd be ~$6-8M.
  • The White House Lawn is a FAR more exclusive location (and is paid for by taxpayers) and it was made available to them at zero cost. Actual value in terms of location and marketing value? Easily $30M+
  • If we, the taxpayers who own the White House, were represented properly - we should have pulled in $25-35M at least.
  • It's OUR White House. Yet President Rump rented it out for ZERO dollars (although we don't know how much he personally made from it, or the sponsorship revenue, or who knows what else.)
  • Add in the additional Secret Service security requirements and management for multiple days with thousands of people. And the flyover by the Blue Angels AND Thunderbirds - as well as fortified defenses around DC. Easily $55M-$65M paid for by taxpayers in total, likely more.
  • And, let's not forget Paramount+ was the exclusive streaming service. $5M+ more.
  • So very roughly ~$65M in taxpayer money in total that should have been recouped after our expenses.

The UFC said they paid 100% of the cost... but they are lying.

The US taxpayers easily paid for over half of the total costs, and got ZERO in return.

Taxpayers are getting the shaft in these deals that we are actually financing. We keep losing financially.

While President Rump's Oligarchs keep getting richer and richer. When are you people going to wake up and see it.

Why the "$30M+ Rental Value" is Factually Inaccurate

The argument falls apart when suggesting the government "lost out" on a $30 million rental fee, because the White House is legally barred from operating like a commercial enterprise.

The Anti-Deficiency Act: Federal law strictly prohibits the U.S. government from renting out the White House or making a profit from commercial ventures. The government could not have legally charged the UFC a $30 million "rental fee" even if it wanted to.

The UFC Covered Production Costs: While the UFC paid "zero dollars" in rent to the taxpayers, they did not get a free ride. The UFC was legally required to foot the entire $60 million production and staging bill, including setting up the temporary structure and establishing a $1 million fund specifically to repair the South Lawn turf afterward.

So is there any actual investigation into the alleged Daniel Cormier/Eric Trump conversation?  I would tend to believe Cormier that he was hacked, but I feel like it should at least be looked into a little closer than it seems to have been.

There are more important things to look into.  I think we found out why they pardoned the good doctor.  Like this:

Today, on my final day as Director of National Intelligence, I’m releasing never-before-seen communications and documents exposing how Dr. Fauci provided millions in US taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, worked with politicized elements within the Intelligence Community to suppress the truth about his actions and hide the virus’ lab-leak origins, and lied to Congress while under oath in 2024. It’s time you know the truth.

...

Exactly.

The Government should not make a profit here... but huge PROFITS were made from the event.

Who should profit from government organized and FUNDED events like this? The taxpayers. Plain and simple.

Look at the sponsor $$$, and the rest as I've already outlined. Not just money from the UFC, but from ALL those that contributed money to the event.

The profits from the events should go back to the taxpayers who footed the bill to begin with - and continue to foot the bill going forward.

Taxpayers easily paid half of the expenses. The taxpayers should share in at least half the profit.

Not the government. The taxpayers.

It's simply fair and just compensation for what the taxpayers moneys were used for.

Just need to do what's fair and right.

Why do you have a problem with that?
