A one loss career and an almost 100% bonus rate for his junior and upcoming senior year, MM is def going down as one of the greatest of all time. I think the sun has a higher chance of rising in the west and setting in the east than MM losing next year and him not repeating as hodge winner again.

Tell that to Dan Gable, David Taylor, Spencer Lee, Gable Steveson, Jesse Mendez, etc.

The list of those that were 'guaranteed' to win, but didn't, is quite long.

Which is worse the one loss or going down in history as the most misspelled Hodge winner since Gable Stevenson?  And let's not forget what happened to Gable Sr year.

The issue is that I don't see anyone at 165 that is even coming for him. There's not really anyone at 157 that I can see coming up and challenging him and there aren't many young guys that were very scary this year. I don't think he'll lose, but if he does, I think it's to Dee Lockett in a weird match that Mitch probably wins 80% of the time. I know Dee flamed out at the end of the year, but he's got a lot of talent. I could also see Dee losing 4 matches by new year, so who knows. Maybe Ruiz would have the tiniest of chances too.

The only thing bad about his one loss to David Carr in the NCAA finals was the attempted Montreal Screwjob by the ref with stalling calls out the wazzoo. He literally called Carr for stalling as Carr was in on a shot... that he finished!

He is a beast and deserves it!  Always fun to watch.  Just keep the microphone away from him.  If there is a Hodge for interviews, he is not taking home a second award

That was one of the most insane referee jobs i've ever seen.

Without looking, were any of those wrestlers as brutally dominant as MM?

also, Spencer Lee and Mendez wrestler scared, which i am chalking up to a huge contributing factor to their losses. Now, i didn’t watch Mendez’s final, because I was not confident he was going to win against Vega. A young buck with nothing to lose against a Mendez that struggled in the semis was not sitting well with me.  But I am assuming the Mendez that showed up to the semis was the Mendez that showed up to the finals.

but I just don’t ever see MM faltering during a high stakes match.

Also, before anything is said about gable, the dude came off like he was so much better than everybody else that he didn’t have to train. And it showed because he was gassed during the heneickson match.

i don’t see MM training lightly because he thinks he is better than everyone else.

I am not. Not all bonus points are created equal. Also, there is a difference tech falling somebody in the 1st vs the 3rd.

I know it is fun to joke but he was worthy of the award.

24-0 with 5 pins, 12 TF's, and 14 MD's. Add in an undefeated National Champion and he was worthy.

The joke was there so I took it. Barr is a stud.

Think he believes a major demonstrates more dominance than a pin.  🙄
