Jax would have been manhandled if he competed last year? You mean if he competed a few months before he beat 2X NC & World Champ Vito A 2 to 0 to make the world team?  Smart take

In all fairness Vito was done.

125 votes for the 125 champ

Since nobody care about # of pins anymore (the original Hodge focus), record, domination, quality of competition are the key criteria of the new “Heisman.”

Jax and MM equally dominant.

You could argue Jax’s quality of competition at 133 is greater than MM at 165. Vega had a 2x champ to go through but he wasn’t as dominant over the rest of the field.

Sportsmanship - wash

Past credentials, well obviously MM.

I was surprised to see that few for Barr. But I guess anyone who's inclined to vote for Barr is probably going to vote for Mesenbrink as they're both at PSU and Mesenbrink edges him out in most stats + dominated in the finals.

Also, those percentages have to be off. How can MM have 2.2x the votes but 5.1x the percentage of votes. They should be equal multiples.

In this age of advanced analytics and stats, we could probably add a quant layer to "domination" based on the total time a wrestler spends on the mat. I saw somewhere that Forrest was pinning and teching everyone at Nationals like crazy and his total match time was insanely short.

On the flip side, wrestlers with a lot of matches that go to SV/TBs (long total match time) could get dinged for not dominating.

Beside that how many votes for Messenbrink and what did they do with those votes?

I screwed MM out of 10,000 votes - I dropped a digit and only gave him 7,598 votes when it should have been 17,598.  That's why the percentages appeared off, but they're actually correct.

All I can say is oopsy daisy, Mr. OopsyDaisy1.  Good catch on your part.

That makes sense. I know people were frustrated with Barr's vote total and think it invalidated the fan vote, but I don't really have a problem here. You're voting for who you think is best. Not voting for 1-5 then arranging by points like an NVA MVP ballot. I think the reasons to put Jax or Sergio 1st are different than the reasons to put Barr first. And I said in my previous post, the reasons for Barr and MM are very similar and MM comes out on top.

MM is way out in front, which is where he should be, imo.

Allowing fans to vote dilutes this once prestigious award even further. It’s become a popularity contest.

On the bright side just think of all those new gmail addresses that have been created. Nigerian princes are excited for all the new opportunities to share their fortunes.

He was still great even if he was not peak Vito which I acknowledge - just the fact that Jax was wrestling to make a senior World team alone makes the statement that he would have been manhandled ludicrous.

I'm on a first name basis with him now. I no longer use or misspell his last name

But not first name handshake basis no?
