Agreed. It appears that @Matfish is having difficulties. He's made two career posts. His open letter in this thread didn't get much support, so he attempted to start a new thread attempting to start a fan petition against ESPN.

Anyone who knows anything can tell him the game plan is simple: DO NOT WATCH THE MAIN BROADCAST - that's for drive-by fans. Knowledgeable fans watch MATCAST on their large TV and dial-in to bouts of interest on their tablet, PC, or laptop.  Oh, and make sure you read and understand Disney/Hulu/ESPN's streaming plan and packages prior to the start of competition.

I like to DVR the main feed and then revisit it in the dog days of summer while I'm on the treadmill.  A few hours of hopping around various wrestling matches makes the miles go quicker

You either chose to accept worse

lol, nah seems you and your 20 forum friends are the ones accepting worse (what’s happened to the sport in general over the years). Someone should print out all the ways you guys are figuring this out and send it to ESPN corporate and say, here now fix this.

A  quick cursory glance via AI this morning.

 AI Overview

Based on discussions and reactions surrounding the 2026 NCAA wrestling championships, there is significant criticism directed at the ESPN broadcast production

.
247sports.Key Complaints Regarding the 2026 Tournament
  • Production Quality: Fans and viewers expressed frustration with the broadcast being behind, and criticized the overall production quality.
  • Announcing/Commentary:Concerns were raised in previous years, but similar sentiment remains regarding a "podcast vibe" rather than focused, high-stakes commentary.
  • Broadcast Focus: Complaints often center on the choice to show only one mat while high-stakes matches occur on others.
  • Ad Volume: The amount of advertising during critical moments of the tournament has been highlighted as a major annoyance.
  • Tournament Seeding: Fans on forums expressed disappointment with the brackets for the 2026 tournament, calling it the "least entertaining way possible" to seed certain weights.
While some viewers enjoy the individual mat feeds, the general consensus among disappointed viewers is that the overall production does not meet the standards expected for the event.

For those of you enjoying the event free of issues, good for you

FYI - I did what was recommended through my Roku device / Hulu and as of now I cannot get back on. Admittedly I am not tech savvy whatsoever.

You’ve said that several times yesterday and I’m happy for you. Today and tomorrow I rely on you guys and your commentary and the replays. Next year I’ll be better prepared instead of waiting last minute like an idiot.

Bruh find me on linkedin and tell me I don't understand technology 🤣🤣

And since you're not my CTO or CEO then I can openly tell you "AI" is not artificial intelligence it's just a buzzword and a new way of googling; it's just variations of LLMs that aggregate. What that means on your hillbilly level is that they all just looked at lots and lots of websites, put them into databases called tables, and rendered them down into easy-to-digest little words and emojis anyone can understand. And they're often wrong. Very often.

i am an idiot on the internet

Lol IT people sure are smart but some of the most boring bastards on planet earth. Those smiling emojis you shared are probably the closest you’ve come to actually smiling in years, huh. And referring to me as a Hillbilly? Now THATS funny! Enjoy the day chief!

It's hard to complain when you're old enough to remember ancient times, when those not in attendance had to settle for tape delayed highlights of the finals on ABC's Wide World of Sports, and more in-depth coverage in the April issue of Amateur Wrestling News!  ESPN coverage is great, I just miss the old, more flexible Quad-box streamer they used to provide (ESPN-Watch was free with an ESPN cable provider). Now I find myself constantly trying to adjust four individual ESPN+ windows on my 75" TV monitor.

This is not an NCAA wrestling thing.  Its the same as any sport broadcast on Espn+ using your Roku/Hulu setup.  In live mode hit the down button, go down to sports on left and then you can see all the sports starting every half hour including the Espn+ options.  If you select the sport view less than 30 min to start time then that sport broadcast will be in you Recent view.

Now for some, true for NCAA wrestling, baseball etc on the + you have to wait till 5 min to select.  I go thru this 5 min before start time to load all the mats into my Recents.  Again this has been true all year long with B12 & ACC wrestling.  I access B12 baseball same way.

Given you have Roku you can also load the Espn app and access thru the app.  Just go down till you find the sport options, select the singlet/wrestling then view the live or on demand.

Why would Espn (or Hulu) change, they have a system that works for all sports, they dont need to do anything special for wrestling.

BTW:  if viewing thru Hulu you are going to have a ~20 sec delay vs directly thru the Espn app.  That's just the nature of the systems and buffering.  It'll be the same if watching English Premier League or that silling ncaa bb tournament or d1 football, scores on your phone will update prior to Hulu tv.

PS:  if folks were supporting wrestling all season thru Espn+ then they'd be ready for conference and NCAA tournament.

Youtube TV on my phone is working perfectly.

My Toutube TV didn’t catch to record the Session II feed last night and I actually went out with some friends with the hopes of catching up this morning.  Guess I got cursed for not avoiding social life during the tournament.

@Rassling, AI is all about prompting. Keep in mind that you can also use AI to provide insight from a particular point of view.  For example, I prompted the following, "From an experienced streaming viewer perspective, provide a four-bullet summary of viewing satisfaction for ESPN's coverage portfolio for the NCAA Wrestling championships yesterday." Here is the result:

Based on the initial sessions of the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships held yesterday (March 19, 2026), here is a summary of the viewing experience from a streaming-first perspective:
  • Unrivaled Mat Access: The standout feature remains the comprehensive mat-by-mat coverage on ESPN+, allowing viewers to toggle between all eight mats simultaneously—a necessity for die-hard fans tracking specific brackets during the chaotic early rounds.
  • Enhanced "MatCast" Multiview: For those who prefer a curated experience, the ESPN+ MatCast provided a "big picture" quad-box view with dedicated commentary from Big Ten Network’s Shane Sparks and analyst Mike McMullan, effectively solving the "browser tab overload" problem.
  • Persistent Navigation Friction: While the depth of content is praised, veteran viewers continue to find the ESPN App interface cumbersome when switching between individual mat streams and the main broadcast, often requiring multiple clicks to find specific weight class feeds.
  • Linear vs. Digital Disconnect: There is a lingering frustration that the primary TV broadcasts (on ESPN2/ESPNU) frequently "hop" between matches mid-action, making the standalone mat streams on ESPN+ the superior, though higher-effort, choice for uninterrupted viewing.

Yeah I know just was trying to avoid buying it cause Im busy this year and was just needed the quicker recap type version (regular TV) before finals.   It would grt me the other medal rounds though so may have to dip into the pocket change.

appreciate the time you put into that ionel. Your other half seems to enjoy hitting while down as always. Everything was fine up until late yesterday. I bought a place in the hinterlands and reception sucks out here. I.e. ADT couldn’t install the system I wanted due connectivity issues. I had to hire a geek squad to install the Roku and my new tv system in general last year. There’s no cable service here so first time in years without Comcast. I do not support Disney, sports and alike and I’ll leave it at that. Tks.

Im in remote area running off Verizon Home 5g (wasn't available 1.5 yr ago).  I'm only running two tvs off wifi, that's plenty, and keep my phone on 5g (wifi off) to reduce load on the wifi.

Love it. Pen and paper still work!

I mean in general I find it I just ask for help people will help me. Streaming these days can be a real PITA these days with different apps, devices, ISPs, etc so no shame in leaning on each other to get things set up. I'm pretty tech savvy but still struggle with streaming video on a regular basis.
