Is beau Bartlett leaving state college. ?
BloodRound replied to Caveira's topic in College Wrestling
Indeed. I have been keeping my thoughts on this rather quiet until a more formal article like this came out. I always have felt unnerved about Starocci for most of his Penn State career. The obsession with dominance over other people just felt like something that would bleed over off the mat. I'm just pretty shocked about the aspects that mention Cael. Wonder if his negligence will lead to anything. -
You must live in a different world than I do because in my experience they deny l legitimate claims constantly.

There are some horrific and very serious allegations in that article.

or perhaps this?

And of course you’ve got club coaches like former tOSU wrestler Brakan Mead telling kids they should be held back

You were certainly a late bloomer then. I am a late bloomer in almost everything except biology. I hit puberty when I was 11 years old, the summer before I went to middle school.

I think the concept is good. Nostalgia for wrestling fans and guys that have garnered an MMA fanbase. It's a good way to get more eyes until the league is a bit more established. I also think the timing of the first event probably makes it a little harder to get any international guys or even most of our world teamers because they all probably leave for camp shortly after.

This has been a thing in Ohio for a long time. I am pretty sure both Stieber's did the same thing. I think the prevalence of social media have just made it more widely known. As someone who did not hit puberty until I was going into my senior year it would have been very beneficial. Ultimately, I do not think it gives you an advantage when you get to college for most guys it probably flattens out their growth curve sooner.

I don’t really see a problem with that. Thanks for proving that Zohran doesn’t hate Jews! BTW, Nick Sortor called Zohran a “jihadist” and said in reference to him that “we must take our country back by any means necessary.” If the number 86 is a call to violence, then that certainly is as well.

Why are people so upset about someone spending an extra year in school? I really don't get how upset people are over this. People are losing their minds.
-
It could be interesting but I doubt it. IF (big if) they are in shape enough, it would be cool to see those guys compete again. I picked Darrion Caldwell as the best 149 of the last 25 years, but I just don’t see how he can compete with the current world team member. I mean if he was close to that level, why not make a run at the world team?

well if you have any doubt about whats coming

UWW says he will be 19 this year? Meaning before January 1st, 2026.

Just hope he recovers.

Before Gary Kurdelmeier and Dan Gable Iowa was second banana in the State. Had never won an NCAA title. Following Gable was tough. He had the touch & brought out the best in his wrestlers. Cael has it, most don't. Some are close. We'll see about Taylor. Tom is producing a good product, just not Good Enough to meet expectations. Still a good coach, just not getting the results expected. Do you get rid of the guy who consistently has you in the top echelon? You are vying for second place most years - along with a few other programs - though you are usually a bit above them. "Iowa Style" - is it holding them back? Can the Terrible Twins break out & actually challenge Penn State on a yearly basis? Oklahoma State is in the conversation but won't be more than that for a few years, if ever. Great Recruiting does not guarantee great results. New Coach, new expectations, new excitement - it wears off in the face of reality. OSU did not beat Iowa in the dual this past season. Maybe this year? Should be an interesting season.

POKEMONSTER wrote "I'd personally be embarrassed being a 19 year old senior year. What the hell are they doing in high school still? Move on to college and stop playing with the kiddies. " Illness, injury & even birthdays come into play for some. An older article. https://www.edweek.org/teaching-learning/delaying-childs-starting-age-for-school-a-tough-call-for-parents/2017/08 One more current. https://www.theparentz.com/parenting/when-should-a-child-start-school I know of two cases of twins where the birth date came into play & caused problems. One, starting school. The other, problems with advancement in their Church. The one starting school came up against an administrator who held fast to the "mandatory" birth date to start school. Twins born minutes apart around Midnight. Before midnight - just made the cutoff to start school. After midnight, one day later & missed the cutoff so started that grade a year after his brother.(identical twins) Parents did not have the money to hire an attorney & the administrator would not bend at all. Caused problems that plagued the kids for a long time. The other, a church rule. Birth right at midnight, New Years Eve/New Years day. Again, roulette with the Bishop of their church - another rule bound type. Kid born just before midnight was "a year older" on paper so was ordained a Deacon in his church the year he turned 11. His identical twin brother was not ordained a deacon until the next year - the year he turned 11. He did have the distinction of being "first baby of the New Year" where it happened so the family got a ton of presents & such for him - and just the bills for the first son. We know at times the kid has no say of parents are adament about holding a kid out/or back for a year. Then comes medical reasons for some. Or Home Schooling & transition to regular school & the kid tests far behind for the indicated year & is now older than his classmates. We live with what happens & it is not always good for the kids. When in High School we had a wrestler who was way more mature. Very good wrestler. Was disqualified when protests were made & investigation placed him at 23 years old. Was living in the Indian Dormatories, born on the Reservation and no Birth Certificate available. He was not a big kid - wrestled about 145 or so - but much more mature than everyone else. Once off the team he walked out of the dorms & left. Apparently hitched rides back to The Big Rez - this was 1960's. Just some interesting stuff.

Not following closely but what is up with the ‘old-timers’ who have been out of the sport for quite a while? I have little to no interest in these matches.
