Good point about Levi's physical growth, I hadn't considered that. Wick looked huge against Hamiti though and it's possible he's improved a lot working with Askren lately. I think both guys are medal threats (but not locks) at Worlds.

I dislike that term, all it means usually in common speak is the best current/very recently retired player (people like Christian Pyles revel in being prisoner of the moment hype mongers and will angrily dismiss anyone from older generations). People try to conflate it with most decorated. Even when the modern athlete is objectively not the most decorated, some like Pyles will still just lie about that or proudly spout wrong information. If you corner the Pyles of the world, they love the strategy of saying current athletes are objectively higher level so the facts, details don't matter (by that logic, nothing he is hyping now matters since 50 years from now today's athletes will be inferior to the future ones, but funny enough he doesn't take that stand). So the "GOAT" is Yazdani. And in 15 years it will be someone else. The closest thing to Gable might be Takhti. He was one of the (or the first?) Iranian Olympic gold medalists. He transcended just wrestling by becoming something of a political figure, revered as an ideal of a courteous-chivalrous wrestler. He had a famous exhibition match against Medved. I think the cultural impact is most Gable esque. Of course Takhti had silverware to back it up, but that's how I associate it more. If it's just most decorated, Movahed is a six time world level medalist, with 2 asian games, and won the Olympics. He's objectively number one in that regard, pretty clearly imo. But Gable is not America's most decorated wrestler, so I wouldn't think of Movahed as an Iranian Gable.

And they still vote by mail.

If they weren't grandfathered in you take Cunningham's kids/Perry and have them wrestle club bc they don't need any scholarship money, can still train with the team, and aren't in the two deep any time soon. Cochran is a senior and Mirasola is just as good with a lot more eligibility so that could open up a roster spot

Program culture issues at NLWC/PSU? Thomas Gilman

Basch said they were in April, August, and September and that Gilman has passed tests since September. I assume those months were all 2024. That time line doesn't appear to match up with the claim that the first one occurred after he had moved to Stillwater and they went to his State College, PA address. -

Ignoring and hiding …. Similar to running if you have the same aim/goal. -
Hassan Yazdani is great. I was a big fan of Rasoul Khadem in the 90s but USA never seemed to be able to get a win over him.

When were the missed tests? Gilman needed to submit his whereabouts for the next quarter by June 15th. Did he miss three tests between the OTT in April and June/July? DT was hired in May. Were there missed tests before that? Or did they just show up to test Gilman repeatedly in a couple months? And if he's in "IDGAF mode", why is he appealing? Unless he (or his bosses) GAF... -
Any time I watch Nascar, all I see them doing is leaning to the left

Yea, they are going to cut the kids of arguably the best coach in the country. Especially the one who is a top 10 recruit. Perry is a top 30 recruit who isn't costing wrestling a dime since a parent works there. Cochran barely lost the spot to a national finalist. He's bumped up and beaten an all American HWT. I'm surprised he didn't Bearclaw and AA somewhere else.

There is an app they use. They have to fill in their whereabouts for two hours blocks of time. They have to do it four times a year, but they can make changes based on life events. I'm pretty boring, but I could probably easily do it for the next several months. If something came up, I could make changes. Former UFC champ Jiri Prochazka was tested at a concert! -
Seattle and Portland are straight up bizarre. like a legit idiocracy.

Mediate.com is prolly click bait or one of those scam web sites rated as heavily left and not factually reliable https://adfontesmedia.com/mediaite-bias-and-reliability/

On the Willie /Basch podcast today Basch said that the first time the tester went to Gilman's State College address after Gilman had moved to Stillwater and that another violation the tester showed up in Stillwater and Gilman was out of town trying to recruit Marcus Blaze. Basch said he got this information from Gilman and that Gilman was appealing. They did not elaborate on the 3rd missed whereabouts. I think they have to give this information on a quarterly basis. A lot can change in a quarter year. The athlete has a responsibility to update it. Basch made mention of Gilman having some screenshots, so perhaps he had updated some thing and it didn't make it to the USADA rep that showed up. -
Habibi has to be up there.

She did win a college open while wrestling for Simpson, but I think there was nobody in the bracket.
